I know I'll take some heat for this one but I don't think the Bruins are going to be as big and scarey as they've been over the regular season.

Thomas has ridiculously good numbers but IMO he's still a wild card who can have great games and then Horrific games.

Too many young guns having terrific regular seasons that will be relied on. I think it's a huge risk and will back fire on them. Some of their young guys are already struggling to put up points so it's not a good sign at all. The team as a whole has been struggling with a 4-5-1 record over their past 10 games as well.

I do believe the Bruins will likely make it out of the first round barring a miracle with the Sens taking 8th overall of course :D So assuming the Bruins face either the Habs or Florida they'll beat them in 4 or 5 and at best they make it to the conference finals and lose but more likely they lose in the second round.

I have to agree Clutch... You're going to take a SERIOUS amount of heat for that thread! LOL j/k

I have to agree, while Boston has seemed in control and such, the fact is they have been on cruise control and fatigue, for one, will certainly creep in, if it already hasn't that is.

Thomas is streaky, like a LOT of goalies, and the Murphy's Law Injury factor has GOT to be weighing on some minds...

While they could surprise and find themselves in the SCF, I don't see them coming out of the ECF's to be honest. I have NO hard proof to offer or clever theories or anything, just a gut feeling.

I gotta say I'm surprised you backed me up on this Cronie. BTW I was way off on my Penguins prediction so take what I say with a grain of salt.

you could be onto something clutch, so it will be one of those sit and wait things, Boston could go deep and that would discredit anything you said, or they bow out easily in one of the first rounds, then cha-ching, you are a genius. I would be more worried about facing NJ though I believe than boston. My father in law is a diehard boston fan, and not even he thinks they can keep it up when it counts.

I personally feel that we'll see New Jersey come out of the Eastern Conference. At some point, Boston will run out of gas, perhaps even against said Devils in the conference final. The most important stat at this point is goaltender playoff pedigree, and Brodeur has no comparatives at this point.

SF, did you mean your father-in-law DOESN'T think Boston can maintain their winning ways or he DOES think they can?

I maintain it'll be NJ coming out of the East, but it'll be a ferocious battle to get out. Unless something goes atomically wrong, it'll be Boston vs NJ IMO. Don't let a late season lapse cloud your opinion, this is a great team with Z. Chara and Julien as coach. Good things will happen.

It's not only the Team slump it's the young guys having great years that are slumping production wise and will only have a tougher time once playoffs hit.

Remember too that there's no switch that can be flicked to turn it on come playoff time.

Yeah, that's true. I haven't followed them too much recently, I assume it's Krecji and Kessel etc. that are struggling?

Funny how we have a thread entitled "Boston: This Year's Flop?" when they've gone from eighth to first in just one season.

Kick 'em when they're up, kick 'em when they're down. You can read it in the Sunday Papers.

Boston has the right pieces. I can't see them floppin'.

Norris trophy defenceman with an under-rated supporting cast

Nice forwards with a combination of skill and size.

Great goaltending with a solid backup.

Good coaching.

Nice deadline pickups....

Good time to be a Bruins fan me thinks.

Same here... My only question mark is Thomas... I would not be comfortable with him but he's playing great. The Bruins are quite the complete team and should be fun to watch in the playoffs.
