Is Conklin stinking up the joint or are the Habs playing well (despite what I saw).

The Habs are making it rain crappy goals.

McGuire was on early this AM and I heard some as I was waking up. He said Detroit was tired. Just checked their schedule, and they were home from a 3-game swing through Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver. So they playe din Vacouver Monday night, then back home against the Habs on Monday. Man, we really need a Central Conference, or East-1 and East-2.

Washington called up 4 from their farm team. Unreal. I'm sure you've all heard about Clark's stress fracture. Add Fedorov (ankle) to the growing list, although at this point he's D2D.

Chicago had three players leave the game yesterday, including Byfuglien and Khabibulin. And they lost the game in OT to boot.

It seems like more players (particularly star goalies) are going down this year than usual. Is it just me?

Yeah tell me about it... In my pool I'd say at least half of the goalies have missed at least a game... It's pretty weird because usually Goalies are pretty reliable...

Freak year I guess...

Sweet revenge for Theodore as he blanks the Habs. If you recall, last time he faced his old teammates (with the Avs) he was bombed 8-5. Washington is unreal at home, with a 15-0-1 record since last March (9-0-1 this season).

They've got to be a favorite in the East. Certainly the runaway favorite in the SouthLeast. They aren't missing a beat with Semin out, as Ovie and Backstrom are playing lights out. I think Backstrom has a 5 point and a 4 point game this season. Sick.

The only question mark is goaltending. And that's a BIG question mark. Also, on a slightly smaller scale, defense could be an issue; although, I haven't seen enough of them to know how their D has been playing.

True about the goaltending, but if Theo can be solid like he was for the Av's down the stretch, they should be fine. Their defence is also missing Green, but like you, I don't watch them enough to really guage how good they are.

They are missing a ton of players, period (7 I think). What happens when they come back from injuries and all those that stepped in have to step down? it could affect them; they're a young team.

As per Ice Chips, Carbo says he's putting the Kostitsyns on the 4th line to send a message, saying "They can't get any lower." Although he's not ruling out the pressbox. Ole-ole-ole-ole!

I re-watched some of the Leafs game and they showed the hit on Blake. Does this guy *ever* hit someone without leaving his feet? Followthroug-smolothrough. Blake is small guy, he almost dove over him. A couple of years ago I searched YouTube for Armstrong hits and every single one was the saem -- he flexes his knees before the hit then comes up for the hit, leaving his feet almost every time, either in the followthrough or even before contact. Frankly it matters very little whether the contact wiht the ice is lost (jumping) before or after contact -- if anything, having contact wiht the ice gives you leverage which you cannot get while flying through the air (unless you're Superman). The worst part is the shoulder going on an upward angle during the hit, which is why "leaving the feet" is used as a measuring stick for legal versus illegal hits. I think both by the letter and by the intent of that rule that was an illegal hit, and this guy's resume is chock full of them. Colby Armstrong, love him or hate him is a dirty, dirty hitter.

I finally went over to ESPN.com and read Hradek's Top Five Turkeys list. Frankly I was a little surprised *not* seeing anything there that was related (directly) to the Sens. Maybe there's so many things to chose from that none of them jumped out as the one big thing to count as a top-five turkey.

Although this comment, aimed at Tampa Bay, strikes home:

Here's the bottom line about hockey -- you want to keep the puck as far
away from your net as possible. To do that, you need defensemen who can
move the puck. The Lightning had a guy who could really move the puck.

This one has nothing to do with the Sens, but it's a beauty, so bang on:

I'm a little confused. At last season's trade deadline, he [talking about Sundin] said he
wouldn't waive his no-trade clause because he didn't believe in the
idea of joining a team for just the stretch run. He went a step
further, talking about the "entire journey" that means "October through
June." I guess he's changed his mind about that.

Matt's Morning Mashup: December 2nd Beta Edition
- Laziest entry EVER

Sorry about how this has fallen off, I've been busy.

Today's entry is the worst ever. We're going into a plant shutdown and the engineering staff (myself included) have been SWAMPED trying to prep multiple projects. I can't say any more or they'd have to kill me.

I'll be back to regular Mashups ASAP.

And deservedly. I just pray he doesn't get bought out and returns to the eastern conference...
