Heatley and 2nd for Phaneuf and 1st

There's speculation that Calgary and Ottawa are talking. I haven't heard this trade, but it seems reasonable. My only sticking point is if Calgary can actually afford to lose Phaneuf.

Not really, but I can afford to say 'f-word yeah', make it happen. Phaneuf has such a nasty, mean streak - and he's young and he's locked up and he's big and he's offensive.

Need to clean up his work in his own zone, but he's young.

At his pricetag, they can. He hasn't really been part of their success this year, by some accounts.

If Calgary is considering moving Phaneuf, has to make you wonder, why?

Also, it's rare that you see blockbuster swaps like this. So it's likeliness could be questioned.

I want to emphasize that this is nothing I've heard, just something to generate discussion. There's talk a big deal is in the works, but the likeliness of this is slim.

If anything, I would do:

Heatley, Phillips for Phaneuf, Cammalleri

if Bryan Murray did not jump all over this, he better be damn fired within minutes. Yes, heater is a 50 goal scorer, but Phaneuf is everything Ottawa needs in a D-Man, he is dominant, hits like a effing mack truck, and he can score.

PS he will be bring Elisha along, maybe her and Carrie get drunk one night, tada, will leave it at that.

I could be wrong, but I think Phaneuf is gonna do the majority of his damage in the playoffs.

What about Hilary Muff? Surely she can come too?

I don't know. I'm kind of skeptical on this one only because it wouldn't make much sense for the Flames to trade him at this point. After him they don't have much on the back end.

With that said, I would love to have Phaneuf.

Dash brings up a good point about Cammeleri- Calgary may be more interested in Spezza... to replace him, and feed Iginla dirty passes all night long.

Cammalleri is an FA at the end of the year. He'll probably want around 5M after getting screwed in arbitration the last time around.

It's also interesting to note how much money Calgary has invested in their defense.

Regehr- 4

Vandermeer- 2.3

Don't forget Kipper bringing in the rear. They might be interested in some defense/defensive prospects coming back.
