People may not agree with me, might take heat here, but after that bomb of a game Spezza played last night, and 2 nights before in Colorado, he might be on the block.
I dont think anyone can say with certainty that there is not a Spezza deal in place. It's going to be intersting until the deadline.
I agree with you, don't agree with the thought though. I think Clouston had a good long look at how Fisher played with Heatley - and how Vermette played with Heatley in the last couple of games.
I thought he may have been traded right after the Vancouver game. That was the kind of game that can end a career in a city - if for nothing else, the GM feels he's doing
something.
I think he's on the block big time - and I think it's for a #1 D-man for sure. I think he's trying to massage a #1 D-man and a top 6 winger from a team for Spezza and Kuba. Like a Visnovky and Cole for example - just an example - I actually dislike that trade immensely - totally an example. :D
Something like that - out of left field. Sam Gagner and Sheldon Souray for Spezza and Kuba. Something that allows Edmonton to get a franchise center for Hemsky, unfortunately lose Souray, but gain some cap flexibility to add someone else via trade or free agency. Maybe they feel Hilbert is ready to step up in a top pairing role.
Gagner has been struggling this year, but he's got a ton of potential, Edmonton just wants that potential realized
now by acquiring Spezza.
Wow...that was probably way too long. :D
