Sorry, I should have flopped Kelly and Vermette at the C position, just a brain fart.... Vermette is on his last year in this team though.. He's gone, maybe even at the deadline.

If you don't have a fighter on your team, you don't get in fights, big deal. It's better to have guys who can play than guys who are only there to fight. I think you're going to see the Laraques and McGrattans of the league begin to become extinct and more teams follow this train of thought.
That being said, Neil is a good piece because he brings alot more than just fighting. He's a fantastic 4th line guy. Why we don't run him with Ruutu and Bass on our 4th line is beyond me. Our lineup right now (if fully healthy) should be like this:
Alfredsson-Spezza-Heatley
Fisher-Regin-Foligno
Vermette-Kelly-Donovan
Ruutu-Bass-Neil
That's it. McAmmond isn't worth much IMO, Schubert is a defenseman. Winchester, I could take or leave.

Dare to take Shannon off the 2nd line!!?
Actually, I'm only half kidding, I love Ryan Shannon. Maybe it's because Murray Diddle our secondary scoring so much by not resigning...Stillman (almost PPG in Florida!), maybe it's his speed, his cycling, his backcheck. I love him.
Same with Winchester actually, but I see him as a full time checker with Kelly (if we have to keep Kelly that is).

Senators GM Bryan Murray told Sun
Media yesterday that he's held talks with Neil's agent, Todd Reynolds,
about a contract extension, but the sides aren't close to a deal and
that could mean Murray will trade the 29-year-old Neil rather than risk
losing him as an unrestricted free agent in the off-season.
An NHL executive estimated Neil
could get more than $2 million on the open market this summer, but it
may difficult for Murray to pony up that much.
