Do you bring up Elliot?

With the Sens looking like they're fighting to get to the basement of the East; do you bring up Elliot to see what you have in him at the NHL level? His absolutely ripping it up in Bingo with AHL player of the month and All-star team honours so it would seem as though he's done all he can down there and the next logical step would be the big club.

According to sportsnet.ca it's already a possibility as soon as tomorrow.

If the team calls him up without making other changes first or at the same time, I call stupid on the Ottawa Senators.

A good time will be after the AHL all star game. The kid deserves the shot right now and is the best goaltender in the organization.

Now, I'm kinda of excitted as a Sens fan. Hopefully we can lose all our games 1-0 in regulation.

Let him have the All-Star game (which they will no matter what) and also, try to have him make 85% of his Bingo starts, while periodically starting for us.

Ease him in. Bingo's in good position to make some post season noise, so don't frank with that too much.

Like Washington and the Russian or Columbus (who now have to keep Mason up because of Leclaire's never-ending injuries).

I've actually gone from depressed about having to go to the game on Saturday to excited about the prospect of seeing Elliot. Man I really hope this happens. Even just one game would be nice.

Didn't the Habs do something similar with Jesus?

Well, Elliot would pretty much have to be the second coming to get this team into the playoffs.

I think we have all felt that this team needs a spark. A new goalie could be it.

I have stuck by Gerber over the years, but he has regressed even further this year. While Gerber has been better than critics have said, IMO, it is clearly time for a change.

Don't forget that Bryan Murray said in July that he wanted Elliott to go to Bingo at the start of the year and have a stretch of 30 starts. He has had that. Elliott was the player of the month in the AHL and is the starter for the AHL all-star game. What do you think Elliott would sooner do: hang around in Bingo to start a glorified exhibition game or go to the NHL?

One last thought: with Elliott clearly the starter for next year, if the team could get something for Auld, do it. Gerber can back up, he can even be the backup next year (at a huge salary reduction).

Why bother? Auld is already under contract. Besides, I'm sure Gerber can get some nice bucks and be successful in the Swiss League.

Auld is more valuable on the team rather than being used in a trade IMO. I think Auld is a fantastic Backup and would be the perfect compliment to Elliot next year.

There is little likelihood of Elliott going into the next NHL season as our declared, clear-cut #1 goalie. He'll be with the team, sure, but you don't anoint him #1 without having played any games -- that is, unless he comes up in the second half and takes that spot for himself.

In any event, you need a guy who can stand beside him to serve as a #1b. He'll need a safety net and a certain level of space -- like Price, etc. did -- before he can become a clear #1, and that's going to take time, and good performance. It's how just about every young goalie for the past decade has been broken into the NHL. Put too much pressure on a young prospect and you might ruin him.

No - could be detrimental to his progress. Bingo is a winning team now, Ottawa must not affect them with all the call ups for injuries and "shake ups". Do not disrupt their chemistry.

The best thing for Ottawa to do is lose every game possible, which should be 100% of them. Elliott either steals us games (bad) or gets blown out game after game (bad). While it may be NHL experience, it is likely to be negative experience.
