What it really does is tell fans that have supported the team with their wallets to keep flushing their money down the toilet.

Any astute, paying fan will take this as a slap in the face.

And what do you say about Leaf fans? They continually support their team win or lose, and as we all know its been more lose than win for them. Are you saying Ottawa fans are spoiled, stubborn and less supportive? I had a feeling Ottawa fans would bail on the team the minute they start losing. You cannot stop supporting the team when they are struggling. You know Gary Bettman is just waiting for the team to lose money and fans so he can pack them up and move them to Kansas City or some other uncharted American city.

I'm saying Melnyk should have just kept his mouth shut instead of breaking out the pom-poms in a veiled attempt to encourage ticket sales despite doing nothing to try and change this protracted spell of mediocrity.

The difference between the two is that the Leafs typically play above their skill level. I can cheer for a team that loses, but tries for the whole game. Name the last time you saw the Sens try for an entire game. If they played to their talent level, the Sens would be a playoff team.
For the first time I can remember, I've stopped watching Sens games religiously. My girlfriend likes the Flames, and while I'm not going to convert, they show up just about every game. That's something this team hasn't done in a long time.
For many of us, it's not a case of not supporting the team, it's a case where it hurts to watch a team that we've invested a lot of time and money into suck the bag.

Here's an updated Citizen article about this whole Harts/Murray thing.

Notice something about this paragraph?

As the Ottawa Senators wrap up their 1-6-1 eight-game road trip Thursday night in Boston, speculation on the futures of general manager Bryan Murray and head coach Craig Hartsburg continues to grow.

Ouch. A loss before we even set foot on the ice.

I am off to buy a pro-line ticket. I wonder what an Ottawa loss to Boston pays? Oh right forget it....

LOL, that's one thing. The other is that they have us at 1-6-1 on our 8 game road trip, that ends tonight...great optimism there for us.

I'd like to be angry and indignant at that supposition, but I really can't.
