If this one goes through, I may have to stop laughing at Ek. He's been calling this one for a loooong time...

You know what they say...the sun shines on even a dog's Donkey some days. :lol!:

I think a lot of people give Eklund undeserved flak. Remember the McCabe to Florida rumor he had about a month before anyone else even mentioned those two in the same breath? We Dung on the guy for weeks talking about how McCabe didn't fit in, how he wouldn't waive his NTC, etc...and then look what happens.

I'm not saying he's right 100% of the time, but remember, he does do rumors. How many trades ever materialize in the NHL?

NYR have been the frontrunners for a long time. Guys like Bob McCown are pretty well regarded and well connected. He doesn't throw rumours out very often.

If Sundin wanted to play in Vancouver, don't you think he would have signed by now? Part of the wait has to be for a team to clear cap space.

While Eklund has never been the same since that Sportsnet debacle, that site in many ways allowed this site, and these members, to be created. And he does talk hockey.

I think Eklund gets played a lot. He just doesn't seem like a very bright guy.

The Rangers better clear cap space very soon as the roster freeze is at the end of the week.

Agreed about trying to (cheaply) get Prucha. If Sundin is a lock to NYR than teams won't be lining up to help them out by giving up a whole lot to help them make room. Gomez to VAN is like the ugly cousin for the Canucks. They wanted Sundin, now they are going to take the horrid contract off o of the team that stole him from them?

Back to Petr Prucha. As mentioned, he is in phenomenal shape, top in the league, according to fitness tests. Perhaps he hasn't been given much opportunity in NY? They had Jagr and others ahead of him for years, now there are others. I don't know if there's a reason for that or not, but he is a FA after this year, so giving up little for him (Hennessy?) can't hurt that much.

Ek's gotten some things right (Filppula deal, for one) but his writing gets irritating and he's quite repetitive.

People say he's just reporting what he hears and isn't looking for hits, but at the bottom of almost every entry, even if only two or three teams are involved, every team in the NHL is tagged.

Richard Park. I think that says it all. He actually called Richard Park a young up and coming star. Hence all the Richard Park jokes and "Any Richard Park rumours?"

Yes, he gotten some right. Yes, he has some contacts. I would say he probably embellishes his vast network of sources. He's also a ridiculous Philly homer and sometimes when actually talking hockey and not rumours, says some pretty outlandish and uniformed things. Like Richard Park being a young (he's 32) up and coming star (32 points is his greatest single season output in 7 NHL seasons).

No offence to Ek, because I read his rumours, but he had Sundin going to pretty much every team in the league for a while. He covered his bases fairly well.

Chicago, Ottawa, Rangers, Philly, Colorado, back to Toronto, Montreal (he hammered that drum but hard).

He was pretty much bound to hit the nail on the head eventually. I think at one point he had the top 6 teams from both Conferences in the running. Funny, I thought it would be the bottom six teams.

Still...when all is said and done, he kinda got this. Or sort of....

Calling any big name to go to the Rangers isn't much of a feat. They seem to have interest in every big name, regardless of their cap situation.

Yeah, it's not like if you look that up in the dictionary you won't see a picture of Mats
