Vermette is awful

Philips really crap.

Not Gerber's fault but he'll roast for it....

Im serious, how long do we seriously have to wait for Vermette to do anything, anything at all. He is easily the most disapointing player on this team. He is getting first line minutes and doesnt do a thing. Put him back on the forth line and bring Foligno up, at least you will get an effot with him.

Bah! Tough loss, but the Sens had no business winning that one. The 'Canes outplayed them in the 3rd. Phillips was in the box for the game tie'ing goal and coughed up the winner... doh. The whole team looked a bit off...

Well, the plus is that Gerber (undeservedly) will get thrown under the bus for this. Back to Auld please, Gerber can hit the waiver wire. I wonder what Jacques would want to pry Anderson out of Florida? Those two would make a nice tandem.

If someone takes Gerber off waivers I would be shocked. Maybe Colordao... NJ def wont because there are better goalies out there that make less than Gerber who are expendable if teams want to make a deal. Weekes seems to be doing fine anyways and they wont panic in NJ, it's not what they do.

We are stuck with Gerber, people should just accept it.

Vermette is awful.

Hahaha, cant stand him. Got a nice little contract, plays with 2 of the best offensive players in the league and can only put up 1 point (a goal) in about 5 games.

He will be dealt this year for sure.

First of all, Foligno has been the worst player on this team for days; again having a horrendous game.
Secondly, there is much potential for this Vermette experiment to work.
Despite the fact that he has been costing Spezza and Heatley points each game and aggravating the hell out of me and making random decisions with the puck and acting like he is a superstar because he is playing with superstars...despite all of that, he has the speed and skill necessary to play alongside those two, and will hopefully settle down soon and start playing well.

rofl @ your trade idea. Terrible...absolutely terrible.
Phillips brings it each and every game and all it takes for fickle Ottawa fans is one off game and no support from his sh*tty goalie for fans to start calling for his head.
J-Bo would be great, but Phillips is a tank and is not expendable.
(He does need to get off the PP though...)

You'd be about the only one in here who wouldn't trade Phillips and Vermette for Bouwmeester. If that's all it took to get him, I'd go over to his house and pack his Dung up for him.

Well 1, J Bo leads the league in ice time and could very easily be a top 5 D man in the league going forward and you're actually saying that Phillips being dealt for J Bo is a bad idea, WOW.

2, Phillips has been awful for about a year now, had a good game on Tues vs the caps, but other wise he has been pretty bad the last year plus.

3, Foligno is playing on the 4th line with limited ice time and hasnt been on for any goals against, nor has he been a defensive liability. He also is producing more than Vermette this year even though Vermette is playing with Heater and Spezza.

4, Vermette brings absolutly nothing to the game aside from being a good penalty killer when he isnt scoring. He is afraid to go into the corners, in the middle, and alwyas takes the puck wide because he is afraid of getting hit. This team has 5 good penalty killers in Alfi, Fisher, Kelly, McAmmong, and Rutuu, Vermette is the most expendable player on this team now, even more than Schubert, and thats saying something.

To think Phillips actually brings it every game is an ignorant comment if I have ever heard one.

Has this guy watched any games this year? He sounds like one of those fans who judge by stats on NHL 09.

Obviously not. The guy sounded like a moron from the very start of his paragraph.

can't argue there. Foligno is one of our most promising players. If only vermette played like Folgers.

Foligno will get a shot up on that top line again I'm sure, and right now they are trying to get him to improve his defensive game on the 4th line, which isnt uncommon for young players.

Vermette is a spare tire at best. He is my whipping boy even when we win.

I missed this game, but the two before Vermette played with jump and was the best player on the top line. He's physical, he's battling for pucks and I felt that he was really complementing Heatley and Spezza, even if the numbers weren't there (they were producing a number of good chances).

For $2.8M or whatever he makes, if you factor in his face-off percentage and PK abilities, you can't be that disappointed.
