Could screw the Bruins pretty good if he succeeds.

Couldn't they, then, ask for LTIR relief?

P.S. Hey, all of you guys that were clamoring for getting Murray to be our missing T6: what do you say now?

Yes they could.

If Murray were to have his buyout invalidated and his contract reinstated, the team would immediately put him on LTIR. It wouldn't put the Bruins in any cap trouble. No, this is all about money. Murray wants his full $4 mil (or whatever it was he was supposed to get paid this year) instead of the 2/3rds that he got from the buyout.

Dan Cloutier tried to do this, too. It didn't work.

No way he can get it paid. He was selling himself all summer as a healthy player, no he says they knew he was injured when they bought him out. Something smells funny...

Was he, though?

I mean, there were 1000 articles written on who should pick up Murray and why, but did he ever come out and say he was ready to play for a team or actively shop himself? Is there any evidence, other than some non-official person (i.e., not his agent or a GM) who said "he's speaking to teams A, B, and C", to show that he was actually looking to play this October? I don't recall him ever saying anything to that effect.

Even if he was healthy in October, btw, if he was injured in July when Boston bought him out, then there was a breach of the CBA. His health right now is beside the fact: the only thing that matters is his health at the time of his buyout.

He would've had to pass the physical though - and here's to hoping we would have caught a gimpy ankle.

I was never crazy about Murray.

I would have taken him for close to the league minimum, but not for anything CLOSE to $4M.
