67s 2019 Run to the Cup

The one thing I miss about Rogers is the 67s games. I probably won't see anything on Bell until the OHL finals, if they make it that far.

The 67s are on a bit of a run, with a 10-0 record, so far. And they've had a little bit of a struggle, having to come back from a 2-goal 3rd period deficit in game 1 of the Conference Finals. Even today, although the final score was 7-3, the Generals scored first, and tied it up 3-3 in the second.

It's not too early to call them a powerhouse.  Game 3 is tomorrow as the series shifts to Oshawa. By the time they come back to Ottawa they could be in the Finals.

11-0, now.

Just looked it up and the 67s are the only undefeated team in the entire CHL.

In the Q Rimouski was there only team that swept the first round, but it took them 5 to advance to round 3.

In the Dub Prince Albert and and Saskatoon were there only ones to go 4-0 in round 1, and then they faced each other in round 2. That's gotta suck.

Has a CHL team ever give undefeated in the playoffs? I mean the *league* playoffs.

12-0. Felhaber scores with 33 seconds to go to the the game at 1s, then wins it 20 seconds into OT. That's not even a full minute of hockey.

And AJ mentioned on the broadcast that it's only the second time in OHL history that a team swept the first three rounds.

They did it without Marco Rossi who missed the game after getting whacked on the back of the head in the previous game. Hopefully the extra time off will help him get back to health. They'll need him in the next round.

In the other Conference Finals Saginaw won both home games to open the series, then just split in Guelph. They are coming home to try to finish the Storm in 5. Here's hoping that Guelph forces have 6 at home.

12 and 0. Boggling

Guelph - ahem - storms back to win games 5 and 6 with a combined score of 9-1. Game 7 is tomorrow night, with the winner facing Ottawa in the Finals; likely starting on Wednesday.

Here's hoping for triple overtime and lots of injuries and/or suspensions.

Guelph wins 3-2 on the road. They were down 0-3 to London and came back to win game 7 on the road. They were down 1-3 to Saginaw and came back to win game 7 on the road.

So, on the one hand the 67s will be facing a tired team. On the other hand, don't take the foot of the gas pedal until the Commissioner hands you the trophy.

Game 1 tomorrow (Thursday) night at 7.

There's an article on the only OHL team that go undefeated in the playoffs. The Spitfires went 12-0 sweeping the first, third safe final round and getting a bye in the second round. So a bit of an asterisk. If the 67s manage to sweep Guelph (unlikely) then that will set a true record of going undefeated through all four rounds of league playoffs.

13-0 now. If I read that article correctly this is the first time that an OHL team had gone 13-0 to start the playoffs.

I assume that Rogers will have the game, but with Bell (not for much longer) my only option is to look for a stream.  There's a guy who's streaming the have on RabbitTV but the app doesn't have streaming built in.
