Still no Karlsson, and with Oduya banged up in the opener the Sens will have the oft-maligned Phaneuf-Ceci duo as the top pairing. Chabot was left in Belleville to get icetime, as Harpur was cashed up to fill in.

Away from the ice, the soap opera "The Young and the Contractless" continues to taste center stage. Some reporter suggested Turris has demanded a trade, which he promptly denied, saying he doesn't want to say anything more. Good luck on that.

Brown will sit tonight, as Formenton suits up for his first NHL game. He'll be the youngest player in franchise history (although Billy Gilmour of the original "Silver Sevens" was 17, and won the Cup before turning 18).

Tonight's opponents are almost universally expected to finish at or near the bottom of the Atlantic (the division, not the ocean). Despite that prediction, the Red Wings find themselves tied for top after beating the Wild in their home opener.

Go Sens!!!

This turris talk is mostly generated by the media. I still bet we resign him. It’s just negotiations at this point.

That reporter should be fired. Obviously he wouldn't demand a trade, he'd just wait for free agency. What fool reporter is this?

From the tweet they said a reporter who will remain nameless.

No big problems with that game. Still fairly sloppy at times, the game was a bit of a mess, but in the end we got the point and surely have something to build on.

Can't win a shootout without Karlsson.

Turris was great. Didn't show in the stats but that was a much better game for him.

Two games, two defensemen injured.

It's pretty great that we got 2 points in 2 games, but even without Karlsson, that PP has to be better. Step one, stop putting out Burrows out there all the time. Someone put up a stat: 3PP goals in last 156 games played. He's averaging over 3 minutes PP ice time per game through two games.

whats the point of that stat? burrows isn't out there to score, he's out there to screen and clear lanes

In addition to screening you'd expect some tap-ins Donkey well. He is getting 2x the PP ice time he was getting in Vancouver. If the PP was doing well I'd say Boucher knows better, but they were awful last season and are 0-12 to start this one.

Put Smith in his place. He can screen and clear lanes just as well, can take a faceoff (you need 2 guys half the time), and is quicker to retrieve pucks in the corners.
