The men's 4x100 finished 4th but US got disqualified for exchanging the baton well outside the marked exchange area. Or so they said. The US is appealing. If this one stands (remember Dunfee) then Canada enters the final day with 21 medals, 10th overall in medal count (goal was 19 and 12th). Henderson has already teed off (but she is well back of the lead); De Jonge finished 7th in his kayak spring final.

In addition to Henderson, here's what else is on tap today for Canada:

- Alexandria Treasure in women's high jump finals 7:30PM (she jumped 1.94 which set a new PR so very unlikely she medals)
- Nathan Brannen in men's 1500 finals 8PM (his PR is 3:34:22 and 5 seconds or more back of the top runners -- not likely)
- Melissa Bishop in women's 800 finals 8:15PM (she took a silver at the Worlds in 2015)

22 would tie their best total (outside of the 44 in LA, but that one will always be an asterisk). They aren't going to come close to the 7 golds in Barcelona (not without a couple miracles).

Henderson birdies 18th but misses the podium by one stroke. Disastrous back-nine yesterday did her in. Must admit, I'm a little disappointed.

US lost their appear so Canada keeps the 4x100 bronze. Medal count stands at 21. Melissa Bishop is most likely our final hope for 22.

Well it was her "Personal Best" which is usually like gold for a Canadian at the Olympics.

I'm not sure they expected to win their appeal...the evidence was crystal clear. Anyway, that's awesome for De Grasse. That kid is unreal. Assuming he sticks with sprinting and no other phenoms arrive, he'll have gold in four years...in 100m and 200m.

Of course she is, she's also ranked 3rd on the LPGA (which is at least as good a field as who was at the Olympics). She had a bad start in round a and a horrible finish in round 3. Pretty sure she's disappointed as well.

Bishop just misses a bronze as she's passed in the last 50 meters by a big scary dude with long hair.  The race was won by another dude, this one with shorter hair.

This is the gold medal winner:

She has unusually high, naturally-occurring testosterone levels.

Here is the one that passed Bishop to take the bronze (wonder why she grew her hair long):

Oleksiak picked to carry the flag. Good choice. Apparently de Grasse's coach was urging the athletes to vote for Dunfee (for his good sportsmanship comments after finishing 4th, getting the bronze, then losing the bronze on appeal). Sorry, interesting story but he finished 4th in the armpit of Olympic events. 4 medals (gold+silver in individual events) for a 16 year old get my vote now and for the opening in 2020.

Congrats to Penny.

I was listening to TSN 690 and they played this chick screaming while watching Penny Oleksiak win the gold on TV. Then they introduced their guest, Mark Tewksbury. Is it wrong that I found it hilarious that I mistook "Tewks" for a chick?
