There is a much bigger story brewing, though.  SNet is losing a ton on this deal. No Canadian teams in the playoffs certainly did not help but it goes even beyond that.  They were running games (even the Finals) out of Toronto, not sending a full complement on the road, just to save money.

Watch your cable bill go up.  Luckily I'm on a 2-year contract and was planning on switching back to Fibe after that anyway.

BTW, you can have HBO, Netflix, Crave TV and Shomi some other garbage stream service all for about the same one price.  It costs me $12/month to add HBO+TMN.  Do that for 3 months of the year during GoT run (and if I want to catch up on any of their other shows, just watch older episodes On-Demand).  Then switch to Netflix for 3 months.  Then Crave TV.  Then Shomi (in my case I get Showmi for free already) Just don't switch to Shomi, which is garbage.  They are each in the neighborhood of $9-12/month and none of them have enough content to last you 12 months (unless you dilute the quality of what you watch).  So just cycle among all four of them.

Long overdue. Not so much the firings but McLean is the cream of the crop and he deserves to be hosting that broadcast.

Plus Strombo sounds like a delicious cider. Cheers

Vesey's rights traded to Buffalo for a 3rd. His agent also reps Eichel.

Oh great. Now that datsyuk is leaving, Buffalo is sure to become Pierre Mcguire's new favorite team.

Part of me wonders if this kid would have have any kind of hooplah if his dad wasn't working for the leafs...

Also Fredrik 'Vezina in 2017' Andersen traded to the leafs for 30th overall and 2nd rounder in 2017

No need to, it wasn't broken. I've see what's on Shomi and it's got a lot of the shows I will be watching. My daughter has already been binging on Elementary, last night we started BSG (girls are turning 14 in a few months, figured they're ready), once the PVR is done I'll probably start binging on The Americans. I've seen lots of other shows (and movies) available there that piqued my interest.

With one more D to add the Leafs have $5.4M in cap space remaining. Assuming Matthews makes the team over someone like Lindberg, add another $2M. Unreal. Of course with Horton on LTIR they get relief up to $5M. But, regardless, this will be a team struggling to win games while pushing the cap ceiling.

The following year they won't have Greening/Michalek/Laich/Bernier/Robidas, giving them a ton of cap space. But next year they'll probably be right up against the ceiling.

Oh, I love the irony that they are paying Phil Kessel to the tune of $1.2M per year to go and win the Cup somewhere else. He's planning on bringing the Cup to Toronto. Hope he brings it right to that hot dog stand.

I actually like their content, but the service doesn't work where I live. Any show you're watching will freeze 3-4 times every ten minutes, then the audio will return, but the video stays frozen. Every other streaming service works fine, but I think their bandwidth requirements are significantly higher than they advertise.

Why does your twitter quote look like that? I just highlight the text I want and use the quotes button here. Mine never does that.

I use the "Embed tweet" feature because I was bullied into using it. Well, bullying may be a little strong (but accurate).

You should use the other, non-obstructed method.

Or maybe they throttle it at their end if it's not going to a Rogers customer.

This is a simple quote:

General Fanager
‏@generalfanager

With Andersen at $5M, #Leafs at estimated $65.98M total cap hit, $5.4M in cap space ($71.4M cap) with 13F, 5D, 2G.
http://generalfanager.com/leafs

This is embedded:

The large quote character covers a bit of the tweet text, and that's annoying. But it preserves some of the characteristics of the tweet -- for example, in this case, the #Leafs part is an actual link to a twitter search of that hashtag (just like it would be in twitter), and it properly formats any links that would often be chopped off (link ends in ... for example) if you are simply copy/pasting.

Lecavlier to announce his retirement. He's still getting paid for the next 10 years (compliance buyout from the Bolts).
