Really? Alfredsson's legacy is meh?SpezDispensed wrote:He needs to make sure we make the playoffs and make sure we win a couple of rounds, I agree. Winning is everything. Without a cup, your legacy is Meh.
We didn't lose Alfie when he was a first liner and a 30-40 goal guy who did it all.Ev wrote:Obviously he's a huge part of the team but the team would do something to fix it if he left. Just like how our previous franchise player left. Players retire and move on all the time. The sens would be fine in the long run. It's not like we'd be losing a player who brought us a Stanley cup

I agree that he would be regarded far bigger than his God statue had he won us a cup. But he still will haves lasting legacy that far outshines so many.
I'm not saying he has league wide legacy but he does in Ottawa. And what you were comparing was loosing him at a time far from his prime as loosing karlsson would if he departed at the end of his current contract. I think am easy comparison for Alfie in some ways is Sundin. Obviously not positional but in terms of importance to their respective teams. Toronto possessing more historical reference might never retire his jersey but in terms of HOF consideration they average out.Ev wrote:Flo The Action wrote:Really? When you ask around the league nobody considers alfredsson a for sure hall of famer or even names him amongst the best. He was never able to take our team to the promised land in people's eyes, he's like Dan Marino.
I agree but the failure IMO has not fallen on them not being able to deliver but from management(or the market) not providing a suitable supporting cast.SpezDispensed wrote:I love Alfie and I love karlsson, but winning is number one
I look less at how well Karlsson is doing(he'll be fine and he's training, he might bust 100 points this year) but more at the rest of the make up of the rest of the team.i don't trust MacArthur in the top 6. He can do fine but he's possibly one hit away from being out for the season. In any case I'd prefer him on the third line with pageau. And yes I think the time to move smith is this off season.SpezDispensed wrote:I'm not gonna pin it on any one player, but in Karlsson's case, the time is now, the team looks good with a couple of additions, but he also needs to make sure he's ready for this season, defensively as well as offensively and as a captain. It's time to take the next step as a team and he's front and center.
Meh. I can wait till WednesdaySpezDispensed wrote:Let's get to the off season tonight please, I need some trade action.
