How so? If you actually listened to him he  said they would have to play greening and Condra at some point soon. Lazar is a rookie.

Who else are you going to take out, Greening and Condra need to play.

I wouldn't take out Lazar, I'd take out Hoffman if need be, but Lazar we want to get a good look at and assess.  He's played well, he's earned a few more looks, and again, we need to look at him.

Greening and Condra don't need to play.  I hate that, who cares if they play or not.  You've been beaten for a spot, now practice hard and when there's an injury, we'll put you in.

Cmon now, you know how it works. Do you really believe Chris Neil would be playing 82 games if he was a 1st year Sen?

In the grand scheme of things, I doubt it matters much, but if I were coaching, I'd take out Hoffman and put in Greening.  Then after that, I'd take sub out Greening and take a look at Condra.  I like Lazar a lot and feel like he adds a nice energy to the '4th line'.

The sub for Cowen is an obvious one. Both goalies had good games so its not surprising to see anderson go in could have went either way. Got the get condra and greening in and in early. they cant be completely game shape with out actually playing games. Lazar is a rookie and he has been playing well but do they really want to put him in in every game of the first nine. florida has not been too good why not sit lazar and see how he fairs against a stronger team and stronger competition

Sounds like we have #TheGreeningAndCowenAndCondraSituation being looked at right now...

Interesting mix up but yeah, this is the Panthers.

PMac on the changes today:

http://senators.nhl.com/club/blogpost.htm?id=32583#200

On changes to the lineup:
Craig Anderson will be the goalie. Wiercioch is going to go in for Cowen. Hoffman and Lazar will come out and we'll put Colin Greening and Erik Condra in. For the most part it's to get them into the third game of the year. We felt that before we went home we needed to get everyone into games.
On Lazar and Hoffman being scratched:
I don't think any lineup decisions are easy but for them, and Curtis in particular, it's an opportunity for him to take a breath and relax a little bit. He has gone through a lot through summer and the training camp. It's an opportunity to get himself relaxed a little bit. Hoffman, it's just a matter of getting Greening and Condra into games. The same with Jared, to make our evaluations, Chris Phillips and Mark Borowiecki have been a touch better and to get Patrick in on the left side someone had to come out.
On Cowen:
It's not just because of his play that we take him out of the lineup, it has more to do with getting Patrick into the lineup and using the depth of our team. Jared has made his share of mistakes on the ice but then a lot of other guys have too. When we evaluated to put someone in on the left side, Phillips and Borowiecki have been a touch better.
On when Cowen is most effective:

When he's physical and he finds the first pass and makes it, much like all of them."

We all know Cowen can be a beast when he uses his size and is on his game. He needs to be consistent though. The mistakes lately are not helping his cause for sure. We'll see.

This is it for me. Lazar's development will likely benefit from getting a few games in, then watching, then getting back into games. I have no problem with Hoff and Lazar watching this one from the rafters.

Let's see what Greening and Condra can do for their trade value tonight.

There are lots of moving parts here. These aren't unexpected moves.

Exactly, Lazar is too good for Jr but not 100% ready for the NHL so him sitting 20 or so games this year, taking it in, seeing he may have more time on the ice than he believes he does is exactly how to bring in a player like Lazar.

Cowen... well he needs to sit and Wiercioch needs to play.

Anderson needs to have a good to great game, anything less and MacLean looks like an idiot IMO.

Pretty much everyone expected Anderson to play today. Yes lehner played good, but backups don't just win a starting job by winning the second game of the year.

Nope but they do get a shot too. You are right that it's too early for Anderson not to get game 3 but a shaky start with a loss for Anderson and it's game on I believe.

I'd agree. I think the goalies will more or less be platooned all year, but hopefully they both make a case to be #1.

Haha. I'm sure she understands by now. Where'd you go for the honeymoon?

Up in Huntsville at the summer cottage. Pointless going down south right now, would be a waste. She knew the deal with the Sens when she said yes. In fact our reception was in the heart of Leaf country and we littered the bathrooms with Sens tissue paper boxes (wifes idea) and gave constant updates on the Sens game while the Leafs were on TV at the bar outside the hall getting smoked by Pitt on Sat night.

I think a short trip to Florida would have been a perfect honeymoon. Just, oh, 4 days or so, visit a couple places.

Ha. I'll bet you could recommend a couple of those arenas places.
