It puts Lehner in goal for good.  He's had better numbers by far this year.
Which is great, but it ain't gonna get us over the hump.  Look, we made the semi finals last year based on outstanding goaltending alone.  That's about as far as it's gonna get you.  We have core issues at forward and on D.  Those need to be addressed.
It avoids a problem that doesn't need to happen. Again I will point to Anderson in his last year in Colorado, DISASTER. He was had for Brian Elliott. There's a reason for that.

Getting a 2nd rounder back for Anderson would be fantastic at this point because it's an asset the Sens could use at anytime and it gives Lehner the net.

It did for three games in a row.
So you think the problem is Anderson, and giving Lehner the #1 job will make us a playoff team?

I would talk to you about this but I make the assumption that by not responding to my comment about Anderson you don't want too... you are not alone on Friday my friend.

Yeah, Ottawa should take what they can get for Anderson at this point. It's too bad he's not on fire again, as then his trade value would be higher. In hindsight, the time to trade him was this past off-season, but why would you trade the hottest goalie on the planet?

My main point is that trading Anderson is fine and should happen, but it's not going to change a single thing about this team right now. Our issues are not primarily in the crease.

Relax, the team is on an upswing people. In 2 weeks this talk about trades will stop.

Meh, you don't trade the Vezina favorite but either way yah, hindsight is easy to use.

My point is that it avoids a problem that is coming down on the team like a freight train, they have to avoid that.

Upswing? What is this upswing you speak of?

Sens are playing better hockey for sure but they are not close to turning this season around.

After the 3 game winning streak we were 7th in Conference standings (the historical standings page does not show WildCard). We were 1 point ahead of the Habs and 2 ahead of the Rangers (who held a game in hand); the Rangers were one of the top-three in their Division so I think that means we were the first wildcard team.

And we had Philly coming in who were scoring 1.49 goals per game and going absolutely nowhere. So right there, on Nov. 11, if he had continued riding the hot hand there was a more than good chance that we would have continued not just holding on to that playoff spot, but actually solidifying it and maybe moving up.

I don't have a crystal ball to tell you where we would have been today, let alone at the end of the season, but you simply don't take a guy riding a three game winning streak (the team's first streak of the season) and just won the 1st Star honours and replace him with a goalie who is coming off an injury and who hasn't reapply played well to that point.

The Sens outplayed the Wild by a wide margin, and scored 3 goals against the goalie who is top 2 in all goalie stats except SV%, for which he was top 5. On top of giving up 4 goals (yet again), at least three of them were 100% stoppable, and he also just didn't look right in the crease -- he was falling all over himself, not tight against the post, slow going post-to-post, etc. That's a 4-point swing and a win against a hot team from the West.

I actually think they are. But we need to fix PMac's stubbornness at this point. If he goes right back to Anderson I'm going to lose it; but it would not surprise me.

I will be pretty upset as well and it is at that point I will turn on this team.

Lehner's last outing was a stinker.

If PMac wouldn't give Lehner the net when he was first star of the week for the NHL and gave the Sens a 3 game win streak nearly on his own then there's no reason to think he'll give him the net now.

It was Febreze compared to Anderson's last three.

As you surely know, your starter may get another shot after a stinker. Your backup usually doesn't.
