I still maintain a decent trade would be Michalek/Anderson/Stone for Dubnyk/Yakupov but man, tough to really want Yakupov at this point, so many red flags but he's a fast, LH shot who can score goals.
I probably wouldn't cry if that deal happens. it's with the hopes that Yak could be turned around within a solidly coached and managed team. if there are teams that can do this Ottawa has to be one of them IMO. still i think EDM wants cowen in that deal or possibly someone other Dman in a mix.

That's a tough one. I don't think I'd do it either. The D is set in Ottawa for the next 10+ years, if you take a piece out, it's possible it'll show weaknesses exactly when we don't want it to.

That said, Eberle is a damn good player - and one of the only true 'winners' I think Edmonton has.

Eberle was the most overrated player in the league after his rookie year.

I agree that we might have to look elsewhere for a number 1 C but i don't see that being Gagne or coming out of Edmonton.
they need a goalie but if we need a C back it needs to be three ways.
It's about depth, not for a guy coming in and trying to replace someone.  You don't need 90-100 point production from your "#1" center.  You're #1 center needs to be Toews, Bergeron, Datsyuk...  Those are developed over time and I think Turris might be in that conversation in 3 or 4 years.  Having a Gagner type to take the pressure off in terms of production would be huge to go along with Zibanejad.

I absolutely agree that we don't need a 100 point center back but i don't see gagne as being a good or even decent replacement. Turris might be in that conversation you're right in a few years. but really he's not now and we have to see that he can maintain that weight all season and see that improvement before we make that assumption.

you have to like Ceci's possibilities but with Weir you have to at least consider i an option. personally i'd rather stand pat on our back end. Even Andersson i'd rather keep till next year personally. solid, solid deal to pry him from us.

He had a pretty good sophomore season too, lets be honest. Now he is really overrated but that's changing.

Ya, I agree with this. I can't really understand this rush to trade Andy right now.

Tough road trip to start the season but coming out of it with a 2-2-2 record and getting 6 of 12 points... and closing out with a win... I'll take it.

Time to get back home and get ready for the home opener on Thursday vs the Devils.

GO SENS GO!!!

Thursday will be a big night... if they can get the lead early and win that game then they should be playing well over 500 hockey the rest of the way baring anything out of the ordinary. NJ and Edm are very winnable games if they play hard and within their system.

Hopefully Fraudeur gets the start and gets lit up for a dozen.

We've never had a long roadie to start a season, though. Checking NHL.com, the longest they've had since 2003 is 2 away games to start the season, and both times they followed up with a win at home (OT win against the Islanders and a shutout against the Wild).

Looking for long road trips (5 or more games) over the years:

2003-04: two 5-game road trips with a tie (remember those?) and a 2-0 win in the return games
2005-06: one 5-game road trip with a 4-3 win in the return game
2007-08: one 5-game road trip with a 7-3 win in the return game
2008-09: 8-game, 5-game and 6-game road trips, followed by a 2 losses and a SO win, respectively
2009-10: two 5-game road trips, followed by a loss and a win
2011-12: 6-game road trip followed by a win, then a 5-game road trip followed by an OT loss
2012-13: 5-game road trip followed by a loss and then a 6-game one followed by a win

So our record in games following a long road trip isn't that bad, actually. 16 points in 13 games.

Sens hired the 17-year Habs Entertainment Director Paul Gallant. That's huge, the Habs know how to put on a show better than anyone else.

Thank God.  Sens marketing is an absolute joke at this point.

CTC has all these toys, a huge audience, and popular sports franchise and they don't have a clue what to do. It's like driving a Lambo with card flags on it.

This is the guy responsible for the in-game experience, which is also a joke.  So hopefully that will improve and no more embarrassments like the Centurion.

The team marketing is a joke as well though, not sure what they can do here.

I have a suggestion. Keep one zamboni. With two of them you have to give out twice as many jerseys/tickets to the kids who ride them, then you end up cleaning up the ice too quickly and are left with all that extra time to fill in with useless crap. Show out of town highlights, clever ads, movie previews, player interviews, etc.

Ottawa has the lowest ticket prices among all Canadian teams, 15th in the league and behind powerhouses like the Sabres, Islanders and Wild.

http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/toronto-maple-leafs-top-forbes-list-of-most-expensive-secondary-ticket-markets-in-nhl/

Can pretty much guarantee the prices are going up next season.

There isn't much demand for Sens tickets compared to the bigger markets, if they raise prices I bet the amount of sales will go down somewhat.

Winnipeg is a smaller city and they have way more season tickets holders and several thousand more on a waiting list. We just hit 12K.
