Shanahan is doing it so the series doesn't get totally out of control, simple as that IMO. You take Gryba out a game or two and it settles the tempers on the other end and "no one else gets hurt". It's BS and unjust but that's the way it is. All you can do is laugh.

Either way, Shanahan sent a message that anyone that screws around in this series will get the boot. Think he had to do it for the overall health of the series.

At the end of the day Gryba misses 2 games and Eller misses the playoffs, oh well. Not sure how you can rehab a face but Eller will need to, lol.

I must admit, very surprised about 2 games. At first I thought for sure he would get a 1 game suspension (5 minute major, opposition scores, misses almost half the game -- more than 1 really unwarranted). Even though the hit was legal there was head contact, and from the optics I thought he almost had to suspend. Then all the analysts and former players came out and said that this should not have even been a penalty, I started thinking perhaps he's only going to get a warning.

Wow, 2 games is like getting 5 or more in the regular season. That's just all kinds of wrong.

Too bad, but this simply confirms what I've known for years -- Shannahan has it in for the Sens. There can be absolutely no doubt about it now.

Now, just move on. Wiercioch moves in. If he struggles (which I don't think he will) we can look at bringing up Ceci (RHS) or Borowiecki (plays hard and has played the right side).

I'm struggling with Wiercioch coming in. He's so soft in the defensive zone - especially against a fast offensive team.

Anyways, 2 games is probably how long it will take to get the blood off Gryba's jersey anyways from the pool Eller was swimming in so w/e. Ottawa lost their 5, 6 D man, c'east la vie. They won't miss a beat.

Thought 2 games is over the line. one game would have still been much but i can fathom that. The guy had no previous history, and it is widely acknowledged it was a clean hit, and on top of that he already got game misconduct and habs got a 5 min major PP. now pile on more games on that? Shanahan is a joke but we knew that already. Again, if rick nash made a similar play, would there be a suspension? plot thickens.....

Hopefully weircioch can help our lacklustre powerplay.
