An interesting note, in the entirety of the last CBA, each and every single SCF was 2-0 after the first two games. Last time it was 1-1 was 2004 (CGY/TB)

*suck on that mendes, elias bureau, TSN, and whoever likes to tout useless stats! Like Ray J, I hit it first.

Yeah I was actually calling this exact trade near the deadline (before they got iginla/morrow). I think they'll target luongo again. At this point, I think MAF will have to go back the other way (and maybe he's better for the canucks to have as backup than luongo).

Lalongo is not going to the Pens. Are they truly going to get rid of one playoff basket case goalie for another playoff basket case goalie?

Vokun is here for next season and I think they try to find their new goalie prodigy from WSP. They need cheddar next season and aren't going to waste a dime on goal tending.

Fleury has 2 years left on his deal at $5M. Luongo has a billion years left. And Canucks have to be desperate now to trade Luongo. Add some other pieces to the puzzle and that's a deal that makes sense

That said I can't speak for the penguins and their goaltending depth so I'm only looking for outside help

Rumours are if Luongo is not traded by training camp -- he won't report to the Canucks.

For what it is worth.

Worth a lot. And considering Gillis is under the gun too, he should be getting dealt well before training camp. It'll be the Penguins or the Panthers in the end I think. Probably Florida since I think penguins will try to sign Mike Smith.

I meant the rumour -- not sure how accurate it is.. But like rumours.. who knows. Makes sense though. He wants to leave.. and they had plenty of time to move him..

Wasn't there the same rumor last year?

Oh I'm sure it's plenty accurate. Luongo was not pleased with how this whole situation has been handled. Whether he follows through with his threat is another story but I'm sure he's let it be known that he's not playing anymore as a canuck

I dunno...if I'm Luongo, I think the easiest way to get traded is report to camp and keep his mouth shut and play well. Also, this way he doesn't give up any pay cheques. The longer he is suspended from the Canucks, the tougher it'll be for them to trade him.

He did that for one whole season though. I think he's been more than fair and didn't pull a heatley or anything. This one is on Canucks management now.

Hey, I am on Luongo's side in all this, after how he has been treated by that organization. I fail to see how holding out helps his cause though.

I don't see him holding out. I see him coming in if he's not dealt and being a pro.

I can't say for sure, but he's trying to force the canucks hand now by holding out. Why wouldn't it help his cause? He holds out, maybe his value goes down, canucks get less than what they might have gotten earlier, thereby forcing the canucks to unload him before training camp and avoiding all the negativity and distraction.

I'm sure he'll be a pro. I just think his agent is telling management that he will holdout so they're forced to trade him and avoid the media circus. No more mr. nice guy

Seriously, Vancouver decided CS is their #1, Luongo played nice guy through 2 playoffs now and in fact as played just as much as Schiender in that time. Vancouver keeps treating their players like this and it will be a long time before they ever make a run again, like a decade because no one will sign there.

Gillis has killed that organization from the inside out and if he keeps Luongo around then it's all on him and the media circus that follows will just make sure no one forgets how ignorant and moronic Gillis is.

I'll never look at the Penguins the same way again after Boston made them look so sad and weak. Irreparable damage.

They have one option: Give Luongo away with another asset and take a bad contract back. A couple years ago, they could have traded Luongo or Schneider and received good return for either, but that ship has sailed. Gillis should be fired for this one Diddle up alone, but that is not the case. Now he needs to find a way to turn this ship around in a hurry...otherwise it'll be him getting canned next off-season.
