Potential to be. Murray has swung for the fences. The Sens have a bunch of guys that can be solid 3rd liners, not a ton who can be legit top 6, maybe top 3 guys. Conacher is a big swing, Couturier would have been a safe bet for a 3rd line guy for a long time... oh well.

Conacher could bomb out and I wouldn't be shocked but he could turn out to be a star and I wouldn't be shocked either.

An undrafted guy who worked his arse off to make the pros, then killed it in the AHL and has begun his career in the NHL with fantastic numbers - almost 60 points pro rated through a full season. This kid won't be going away any time soon IMO. This definitely has some risk to it, but we gave up a player that was redundant at this time, so it's a shot worth taking 100% of the time.

The Sens gave up their 3rd goaltender for Conacher and a 4th... yah not bad.

If people were to say before the day started that Bishop would be moved for Conacher and a pick, people would have said BS and ripped into you.

That said, I like this move for Tampa as well because it makes sense. This was a good hockey deal on both sides.

Also, people saying he's "fallen off' what about Yakapov, Taresenko, and Shultz? Rookies tend to be inconsistent.

Sens may have another major award winner on their hands if he can play a decent game and put up numbers at a decent pace.

Yeah, of course. People don't seem to realize rookies have ups and downs. Even the great Silfverberg has had some downs.

Gryba is experiencing it too.

I really don't know what his upside is but like it's been said it's not like we traded a piece we needed to keep. he was our third goaltender. good chance under the coaching we have that he can turn out. I guess the games will be interesting to watch if he develops any chemistry with some of our players.

Anyone who says the Sens fleeced the lightning are kidding themselves for a few reasons. 1) Bishop could turn out to be a star... I don't think he will, I'm not his biggest fan but it could happen. 2) The lightning didn't mortgage the future to make the deal. 3) Conacher could totally bust.

That said, the Sens and Murray really swung for the fences with this one. At worst he is a Ryan Shannon which probably would be a fail, at best he could be an all-star forward. The Sens gave up nothing in terms of the future or present of their team, nothing. If Conacher turns out to be a solid top 9, it's a win because you need scoring depth.

I like this trade for a lot of reason... also, the Sens still have their 1st rounder which is always nice.

Laugh1 Murray's the best.
why not eh? as it was stated there was no reason we had to move Bishop so the deal had to look right. this makes me think management thinks alot of Conacher. plus Dorion will probably turn that 4rth into a top 4 dman. Laugh1

Dorion can do a lot with that pick for sure. Conchar is a massive, cheap, fast, skilled piece to add for Bishop. I like Bishop, but had some reservations about his lateral movements. I think he'll be good as a tandem with Lindback, but what we got back is way more than we could possibly have hoped for.

Umm...what? Suspect

Is anyone saying that? I think this was a good trade for both teams. I still think that D is the big issue in TB, but getting a solid G is never a bad idea. Lindback has struggled. They get a good goalie who might end up being very good. The Sens get a new name at the top of their points and goals leader boards. Good trade all around, IMO.

Comments from other places, not here. Everyone here is a little more informed than other places for the most part. Some exceptions though, lol

And again, I don't know how anyone can't be happy with the return for Bishop or upset at what Murray has done with this years 2nd round pick to get to the point they are now. The late 2nd turned into an early 4th and they added Conacher... fantastic asset management.

The Sens' top scorer hasn't even played a game for the Sens yet...

Heh heh.
