I wouldn't trade Cowen for J-Bo but I don't think it would cost Cowen either. Murray has managed to add without giving up top prospects and I think the trend will continue. If Calgary is indeed peddling The Kipper, Bishop could easily be part of the package.

Jaybo logs the most minutes for them, if they trade him they'd need a replacement (or future replacement).

Jaybo would work well here given the system MacLean has. Still seems expensive considering our prospects may end up filling that role.

I still remember Peca calling Jaybo the easiest defenceman to play against.

So I don't think you can blame the Sens' staff for misdiagnosing it, it sounds like he overestimated how well he was doing and aggravated the injury.

Who knows but IMO he was probably worried about losing his job and wanted to get back quick. The funny thing is if he cant get healthy before the playoffs Lehner may have very well done that when it's all said and done.

Lehner is not stealing The Gregger's job. He'll be back playing for another Calder Cup while The Gregger takes the big club ALL. THE. WAY!!!!

Andy will be back before the playoffs. Just hope Methot's injury isn't misdiagnosed as well. That D is very thin right now with nobody in the minors to bring up.

Lehner goes back to Bingo and takes them to the Calder Cup again... But after watching that Ducks/Hawks game last night.. sorry but the Cup winner is coming from one of them... they are both that good...

I would like trade Tony Greco for the rights to Alex Giroux.

A slightly more realistic add would be young Scotty Hartnell. He would sure look swell in Ottawa.

As for what it would take to land Jbo? No idea but he's a better D man than Cowen and probably will be for a long time.
Ya I'm not sure it would cost us Cowen either. I think you could possibly make a deal with Bishop, the 1st in 2014 and someone like Grant. I think comparatively you have to look at what we traded for mike fisher. A guy with some term left and some cap cost which everyone knew he was a decent player but wasn't performing to expectations. obviously these two players aren't playing the same position but I think there's a comparison there.

If they're comparable as far as price is concerned, why is the return for JBo so much greater? Roster player, prospect, FRP vs. FRP. I'm not following. scratch

well I'm saying that this package would hopefully work. maybe we could nab him for the 1st and Bishop alone. depends on what else some teams are willing to offer. you got to think that a first next year could be less valuable then say the wings offer their 1st this year. so really it's a devalued 1st in my eyes. but you're right Grant might not have to be included in that.
personally I think i'd rather hold on to Bishop till at least Andersson is back and he might have mre value also this summer. really depends. I guess when deals start happening we'll see the real value that's being priced out there.

I think Jay-bo to ottawa would be great. and usually I'm against trading our 1st round picks. I guess I think this rebuild is very nearly over in terms of drafting. this years 1st I'd rather keep though.

Fair enough. Considering I'd be much happier to see them offer something like Bishop and a mid-tier prospect or Bish and a 2nd. I really don't think that he has enough value to warrant a 1st + an NHL goalie, especially if they move Kipper. If he's gone, they have a massive hole to fill, and I think BM is in a position of power at that point. Bouwmeester is having his best season as a Flame, but I still think that his salary to production shows that he's been an underperformer.

Who knows, though? They may not even be in on him. Shrug

SensChirp says the Flyers are in on Bishop.

I don't give a Diddle about more draft picks at this point, and imagine Murray would rather get something immediate back. Ruslan Fedetenko and a 3rd or 4th rounder for Bishop? Matt Read for Bish + a late pick?

Fedetenko? WTF? I'd rather break Bishop's legs myself than give him away to a competitor at that price.

Just checking to see if you guys were paying attention. It would be Fedetenko+ coming back. I think Fedetenko gets a bum rap.

Decent player but I'd sooner add to Bishop to get something better. Otherwise, it might be just as well to hang on to Bishop for insurance in the playoffs.

for sure. at this point we have to be the ones dealing quantity for quality.

Insurance for the scenario where Lehner AND Matrix are injured?

It's pretty much the worst time ever in the NHL to be attempting to trade a goalie. There are several on the market, and no one has moved. So Bishop may not fetch as much as we hope. And how long is it worth holding on to him, hoping for the market to improve? He pretty much needs to be gone by September.

If It's Fedetenko and a 2nd for Bishop... you basically got what you paid for him (higher 2nd than what the Sens would have been) plus a guy who does play well in the playoffs and adds some depth. Makes sense for sure and I wouldn't be too upset with it. He's a decent player, nothing special but solid.

In theory, someone could sign Bishop to an offer sheet this off-season, and we'd get a 3rd rounder back (up to $1.6M) or a 2nd rounder (up to $3.3M).

So I'm guessing the minimum we'll get is a 2nd rounder...but I'd rather have a player.

I'm not sure Fedetenko is an upgrade over any of our current wingers, but he does have experience, can play a 2-way game, and can generate some offense,
