Karlsson is unreal. So in Anderson.

Oh, and Karlsson's acceleration is unreal. I get it that he has great hockey sense and vision, but without that acceleration he simply wouldn't be able to pull some of this stuff off. Which means that he'll have to learn new tricks as he ages and slows down.

Sens get a day off today... much deserved after back to back wins in as many nights. Off to Carolina on Friday.

The Hurricanes always seem to play us tough. Here's hoping Ward is off his game.

I was out with skating/hockey so didn't get to see any of the game until around midnight, and then mostly fast-forwarding to see the goals (and the alleged penalties I kept hearing about). There were a few shifts I did watch in their entirety, though. On one of those I actually saw Wiercioch getting pretty physical. Maybe he needs a game like this (against a team not known for their rough play) to realize that he's got a big frame, and he's no longer a 6'4", 158 lbs beanstalk.

He was good in almost every aspect. That's the kid we were all hoping for. No one wants him to hit guys through the boards, but it's the elite passing/offensive instincts that made him such a nice prospect - and last night we saw some of it on display.

And again, Benoit continue to prove that he's not just a call up. Some excellent reads and blocks last night to go with some offense from the blue line.

Solid point. Benoit was good.

To go with what must be top 10 on the league in blocks. I'm on my iPhone so I can't check. I'm curious though

Tied for 14th. Gotta love that. He's playing well, could be a Lundin type next year and after that.

Nice. I think he actually has a legit future

yeah i noticed that last night. Benoit is quite willing to sacrifice himself to block shots. it says the guy is so happy to have finally made the league that he's gonna do what's asked of him. I really hope that continues and he can get a one year deal next year. Lundin is do back when? what do we do with him or who get's sent down. everyone on the team now has earned their place it seams. tough call.

Plays a simple game and works hard... don't think there is an issue with keeping a guy like that around to play the #7 role much like they did with Carkner. Always good to see a guy like that make it and stick, so hopefully he sticks.

Weircioch will be sent down, no question in my mind. He could very well be trade bait. Like we were talking about last night, the Sens left side on the blueline for the next 4 or 5 years will consist of Cowen, Methot, Phillips, and Boroweicki. Weriocioch is going to have a tough time sticking especially considering Benoit has outplayed him and is a better player and fit at this point as well... he could get a 1 way deal next year.

So next year the blueline could potentially be

Methot/Karlsson
Cowen/Gonchar (I hope)
Boroweicki/Phillips
Benoit

That's pretty solid.

that's a big If he decides to resign or BM actually wants him back.
Also if it doesn't look like we're gonna make the playoffs(Spezza out makes that possibility a bit more plausible especially that more injuries may occur) then BM might decide to deal Gonchar by the trade deadline. who knows right?

I'm not sure how feasible this is but woud there be a possibility of Weircioch learning to play the opposite side? I was just listening this morning on the radio that Nick Leddy has done just that this past year and is doing really well in his new position.

That, my friend, is a pipe dream. Never been done.

I wonder if Wiercioch has ever played center Smile

I remember his first DC, he was better at skating with the puck than any of the forwards.

He's got 15, good enough for a 14th place tie.

Anyone see the hit Karlsson put on Prust? I wish there was a youtube clip of it.
