Parise isn't signing here, he probably already knows where he will go.

Melnyk would never approve giving Parise a massive front-loaded deal that lasts until he is 40, especially with a delayed season looking more and more likely. Look at Karlsson's contract, only costs the Gene $1M right now.

Can't understand why people complain about Nash's contract when Parise will get a similar cap hit, double the term and probably a $10M signing bonus payable immediately but the season won't start til December.

Eugene would tell Bryan Murray to jump in the Ottawa river if he asked for approval for such an expenditure.

I don't like your attitude, young man. Parise will not get "double the term" of Nash. You speculate on things too much. Are you affiliated with HockeyBuzz?

What are you talking about ? Have you seen the contracts handed out on July 1st last few years for top players ?

Parise will get a retirement contract which will take him to 40 years old. He just turned 27 so that is 13 years which is about double the 6 years left on Nash's contract, so twice as long, aka double the term.

Feel free to tell me where my educated guess is wrong ? or is calling me Eklund the best you can do ?

And if you seriously think Parise will sign here, there's this bridge I'd like to sell you.

1) I don't think Parise will get a 13 year contract.
2) I forgot you could predict the future.
3) I never said that I seriously thought Parise would sign here. But I bet he WOULD sign here if we threw enough money at him (but yes, obviously we won't hand him a ridiculous contract).

I think we're gonna see a 10 year, 70 million dollar deal for Parise - which is a huge deal obviously.

1) OK cool, I do
2) I wish I could, but I can make educated guesses, try it sometime.
3) There is no amount of ridiculous money that we could throw at him that other rich teams with more amenities and perks couldn't. Maybe if we lost to the LA Kings in the SCF in 7 games.

I see Parise in Detroit or Minny or LA.

Suter - Detroit or Minny.

Could you potentially see a Bobby Ryan+ for Rick Nash?

Pierre McGuire said on the radio this morning that Bobby Ryan and Randy Carlyle did not get along... Not sure what his issues are right now.. but I'm surprised Anaheim is giving up on a great young player.

Why would Anaheim even need to add anything to that?

I don't think they're giving up, they meed help in other areas and Ryan is the most disposable, Perry and Getzlaf are MVP/Olympic Gold/SC winners etc. You can't replace that.

Plus I'm sure they'd like to save on Ryan's $5M contract as well.

Anaheim is not interested in Nash - they want multiple pieces to help out - like a C, W and D.

It wouldn't surprise me that other teams are seeing me what kind of offers are floating out there for Nash and they're making guys like P.Kane or Ryan available to see what they could get for them.

Saw this on Hfboards, interesting to think back to similar situations to the current Nash trade:

Pittsburg got nothing for Jaromir Jagr in hindsight (Kris Beech, Michal Sivek and Ross Lupaschuk). Washington only got Anson Carter for Jagr as well.

Boston got something, but not much that made a diffrence from a contenders point of view (Marco Sturm, Brad Stuart and Wayne Primeau (and the two last mentioned subsequently becam Andrew Ference and Chuck Kobasew)).

Atlanta got nothing and then a little less for Hossa (Colby Armstrong, Erik Christensen and Angelo Esposito).

And then there's our very own Dany Heatley ...

Sens got the best player back in the Heatley trade. All things considered and using those stars as a template, Murray did well.

If he's getting double the term his cap hit will be at least a cool million less than Nash (see Ilya Kovalchuk, Marian Hossa, Duncan Keith, ect, ect, ect). Plus we wouldn't need to give up any assets for Parise, oh, and he's better as well.

Bob Mackenzie tweeted.

That Anaheim may be looking for building blocks and not payroll... or something to that..

Which basically means Cowen from a Sens perspective (which obviously won't happen).

Only player I would move off the current Sens roster is Bishop and Foligno... after that everything should be considered if the trade make sense now and for the next 5-10 years. Nash and Ryan both make sense but the idea is to build a contender, not to make a lateral move that may not help as much as you would like it to.

Zibanejad, Noesen, Lehner, 3 prospects that everyone loves but for the right piece, then yah, you might have to move one of two. Stone, is another that has to be considered.

You don't trade away your entire organizations depth but if you can get a sure 30 goal player for one or two of these guys, you HAVE to consider it.

I don't think I would touch any of Zibanejad, Silfverberg, Noesen or Lehner. I know that takes us out of lots of discussions, but I just wouldn't move them for guy like Nash.

If Columbus would take something more along the lines of (following deal) than there may be a deal to be made, but not more than that.

Nick Foligno
Ben Bishop
Matt Puempel (or Prince or Pageau, possibly Noesen but would be reluctant)
OTT 1st 2012

I'm well aware it's a quantity over quality package, but I wouldn't be thrilled with anything more than that.
