I have a Keurig machine in my office still in the box. Should I use it?

We used to get Keurig cups from VanHoutte.ca and locally at Crystal Springs Water Company in Cornwall - they carry Timothy's.
I now buy the Newman's own from Costco - $33 for 80 cups.

Cool.
Now, the unit I bought came with a refillable cup already. Is the one you use any different/better? If I get into this a bit more I'll probably want more than one. The pre-filled cups get punctured at the top and bottom -- how does that work for the reusable ones? Or do they have to line up a certain way and the holes are already in the same place? And how long does the filter inside the reusable ones work, and can it be replaced?
Number Twenty Nine wrote:The filter is stainless steel, so it it should last a good long while.

I am impartial to no brand of coffee so I can't say I chose one over the other for any reason other than price. I am a little peeved that Keurig seems to eb the elitist brewer and has all the selection, while Bosch has only select varieties and has exclusive flavours and brands you can only buy online.
Tassimo represent!
I do like the Suchard Hot Chocolate, and the Cadbury's HC is a hit with my kids.
As I researched the name (Suchard), I found out there is a recall on a Tassimo machines part that causes the discs to spray whilst brewing. Fuckbeans.

The recall is no big deal - I never had an issue with it, but they sent the new holder anyways.
wprager wrote:I could be wrong, but I thought the one that came with the unit slips in just like a k-cup, too. It's the Platinum version, don't you know. Paid enough for it (mind you, it came with 60 k-cups so I should really subtract at least $30 from the cost if I compare to the models I've seen in other places).

says the guy to the guy that's owned 4 of these........

We got the recall notice and they sent us the updated part but we never had the issue that was being addressed. Our daughter loves the hot chocolate and she can operate it all by herself. We just don't let her take the disc out after as it's pretty hot.
The biggest knock on Keurig's I found was the time it took to get going. Not sure if that's still the case.

Tassimo is instant. Power on, disc in place, GO!
Tassimo FTW!!!

that's 4 minutes from cold. Most people leave them on. I do and it takes less than 60 seconds to brew a cup. i figure if i pay big bucks for the convenience of K cups, I'll spare the 7 cents a day to leave it on standby.
