That would suck for a guy like Orr, who has taken on the league's heavyweights consistently, to not wind up with his pension.

Can't stand Orr as a player because he's awful but 22 games from his NHL pension is basically a crime. For his sake I hope he somehow finds a way to get into 22 more games over the next few years... strictly from a human being stand point. Can't imagine the guy can even count on one hand so he probably needs it.

Does he still have injury issues? You'd think (regardless of his actual skill) that someone could use one of the top "heavies" in the league.

Jurke is extremely principled. He wouldn't screw this guy out of his pension.

Orr clears waivers... Burke is having a presser on it apparently.

A presser for a goon clearing waivers?

What?

He's gonna pat himself on the back for something or other.

He just whined about how there's no room in today's game for pure goons.

I think Burke almost cried... almost.

Wink

Orr has become useless to them, and the rest of the NHL. They have others that can play a bit of hockey and fill the role in Rosehill and Brown.

It's not Burke's fault he had to waive Orr it's the NHL for making such players obsolete !!

Funny how his team is anything but truculent now.

You have to be able to play hockey too. Not much of a point if all you can do is fight. At least Neil, Smith and Carkner have a job to do. And even if Daren Kramer makes the Sens in a few years, he's shown in the W that he can also play.

Yep. It's the future of the NHL. Gone are the 3-4 minutes per game goon and in with the tough players that can contribute and play minutes.

Makes me wonder how much of a future Parros has now. He's a legend for sure, but Dr. Poo - you gotta be concerned. Heh heh.

Yeah, Parros' days are numbered too. When teams like Toronto are taking guys like Orr off their roster, then Anaheim has less and less reason to have a guy like Parros. It's a domino effect. What use is Parros if no one is going to fight him anyway? Then he's just a defensive liability, and there's much more useful 4th liners available (see: John Madden, who just signed with Florida).
