Okay then

Back to my original question: why would Crosby do it this way and not do an impromptu media scrum. Why would he want this attention.

He doesn't want the attention. The team needs to do this to put away all rumors. Crosby is skating this morning in Pittsburgh.

Exactly...Crosby doesn't call the shots, the team does.

Are you kidding me? You think if Crosby asked Lemieux et.al to have a quick scrum after a practice to get things straight they would have said no? What the heck is the difference anyway?

It's not like it's the entire FACE of your franchise/NHL, whatever he asks for, he gets (within reason) and he could have asked for a quiet scrum.

What do you mean I don't understand why he has to do this? The team and him are sick of the intrepid questions being asked, so they want the real story out so they can get on with being an NHL team.

There you go. So stop making a big deal over nothing. You can't just have a random media scrum after practice (which they don't even have right now)

I'm not making a big deal, I'm saying that this puts Crosby in an uncomfortable position where hundreds and hundreds of media will be there to get his - likely boring take, where it could have been handled quietly and then statements released to the press.

Watching it right now...don't think they are announcing anything, just taking questions. First the 2 doctors will make statements, though.

Statements are a no-no. You want to hear him answer his own questions face-to-face.

Doctor said his brain data (?) (not sure what the exact term was) is almost back to normal.

No timelines for his return...they will make sure he's 100% before returning

Crosby's concussion was a vestibular concussion -- part of brain that allows you to know where you are in space.

Doctor says it's like Christmas for him right now. Meaning he is doing very well.

Good news is that this concussion is less likely to reoccur, meaning his risk for future concussions isn't huge.

Listening to Dr. Collins was quite interesting. He 'laid it out' in plain language exactly what happened to Crosby. They seem to have come a long way in diagnosing, understanding & treating concussions more than they did in the days of Lindros & Lafontaine.

It's good to hear he is progressing and I trust he will take his time and come back when he is truly ready.

I suggest Boston have a look at hiring Dr. Collins to deal with Savard.

I don't think Collins can help Savard, I think he's done.
