We'll need to put that towards a proper tote board to track all donations.

Can we use a big thermometer instead?

They need a 2-3 week window for installation. The building can't be used during that time. How about some time in April or May.

Wow, really? They need that long to being a scoreboard in and hang it from the rafters?

You missed Oggie's joke completely.

Not sure if someone mentioned this already but I was on the season ticket holder call today and the question was asked about the new scoreboard. They said that the RFP is out now but that they want to take their time in making their selection. They said we should have one in 2-3 years.

Whoever planned that are clueless. All Star game is in 2012 with all the big wigs of the NHL there and they're going to have the scoreboard a couple years later?

Couldn't have said it better myself. If they have a planning department the entire group should get canned.

Yeah I was surprised too. They said that they want to take their time deciding so the new one will last another 14-15 years like the current one. Why not unveil a new scoreboard for the All-Star game? I still don't understand their decision to delay. They bring the All-Star game to Ottawa during our anniversary year and the league gets to stare at our ancient screen. Good job. Eyebrow

I think it's all a ruse to put us off…I had "insider" info telling me that the scoreboard would be in place for next season. I'm going to punch my "insider" in the face if we don't have a new scoreboard for next year. It's not really a big deal to me, but it's something that is certainly dated and in need of replacement.

Also another planning blunder too if they don't have it in time for their 20th season.

Punch him in the mouth on behalf of me as well would ya?

Ya, according to him, they were considering their options a couple months ago. I guess Cyrill said that the RFP is now out for the scoreboard. I don't know what kind of delivery times are needed for a scoreboard (I assume they are custom built when an order is received), but I think they still have plenty of time to have it installed by September.

At this point it would be at least prudent to have it in time for the All Star weekend.

Yes I can't imagine them not having the new scoreboard in time for the All Star Game

If we get a new scoreboard now it will be dated by the time the 2 - 3 timeframe expires. Maybe we are getting a new scoreboard for the AllStar game AND an updated one for 3 years away is being ordered to make sure we never have a dated scoreboard again?

Intriguing. They want it to last 14 years though. Square the circle for me please.

Yes, they want it to last. But the discriminating and knowledgeable Ottawa hockey fan demands the latest scoreboard technology and will be whining for a new one in about 14 months.

I can't speak for the discriminating and knowledgeable Ottawa hockey fan but I do believe having a replacement scoreboard, for a 14 plus year old one, in time for your 20th anniversary season, when plans are in place for a new one anyway, and in time for the All Star game is not only a good idea it only makes sense. I'll leave it to the experts though.

Good ideas that make sense cost real money and this is a business.

Indeed. Better to save money and do a poor job representing/marketing your team and your city. win win for sure. It definitely won't affect the bottom line.
