He'll find himself traded - and I certainly don't want that - and I'm not so sure Regin wants that either. He needs to come into camp buffed. His core needs to be as strong as possible, his upper body needs work too. The talent level is there, but if he remains with his core not as strong as needed, he'll be hurt a lot at the NHL level.

Waived, not traded. No one is going to trade for a 3rd, 4th line plug that couldn't crack the last place teams lineup.

Regin may need to change his game a bit too and become more of a puck retrieval guy who grinds and works the boards on the cycle along with his skill work of course.

Definitely, if he's gonna stick at wing anyway.

I don't think it'll come to that personally. He's got a lot of skill and apparently his work ethic is good, hopefully he'll use this year as something to draw on going forward.

Either way, if he doesn't have a good camp no team will trade for him, that's the point. He will be waived.

I guess...hard to imagine that coming to fruition, it's a long way off, he'll work with Schwarz all summer I'm sure. Schwarz will have him begging for mercy in the weight rooms.

We'll see, Regin's career with be made or broken next year. He needs to be one of the best, if not the best forward in camp. The 2nd year BS is over, he has a one way deal, and his career in The NHL could end just as quickly as it started. He's proven nothing to this point and again has to fight for his spot come Sept.

Yeah, he better be ready for training camp. I wouldn't leave Ottawa if I was him, I'd report to Schwarz and tell him that I wanted to become MUCH stronger.

I might be developing a man crush on Greening. That guy needs to fine tune his offensive skill, but he's huge, he doesn't mind getting his nose dirty and he hustles. i can see nice things coming for him - perhaps not a top 6 role - but a solid 3rd liner with some offensive upside.

Get in line. I started the fan club a week or two ago. Laugh1

I've liked the idea of Greening since he was coming up through the ranks of the NCAA - and I reiterate that Derek Grant is the same type of player, but to see him work his way up from the 4th line in Bingo all the way up to the top 6 on the Sens is really neat to watch. Maybe it's the promise of better things to come, but seeing guys like Greening and Condra and especially Butler having success really makes me excited - and Greening is such a big boy, that I can see him really messing with other teams' D in the future.

And the more I see of Butler, the more hope I see for a sniper in the making - which is obviously something that we need so badly.

I didn't know that a line was forming. What happens if we just form a crowd instead? Dancing

Not just blocking or getting a stick in the way of an open net either. I'm talking about pucks slipping through him, floating towards the goal line and a Sens player knocks it away before the opposing player can bat it in.

All I'm trying to say is the team is playing substantially better defense in front of their goalie which aids in him looking as good as he has. Just give some credit where it's due.

THe best goalies in this league also get that kind of help though. I don't think there's one goalie that's gonna play perfect.

Myeah, I don't exactly see that happening. There's not a lot of competition right now, as I heard Silfverberg is staying another year in Brynas. Remember, All those kids look good right now, Regin has already done more last year... Anyone of them can still suck next year.
Unless Murray decides to sign a bunch of free agents.

It's a 2-way street, a goalie makes our defense look good and the defense makes the goalie look good.

Anderson is way better at bailing out our defense though, bad giveaways by Kuba, Karlsson, Philips and Gonchar would usually result in a goal with Elliott in nets.

I've seen too many situations in Anderson's short time in Ottawa where Anderson stops a shot that I am positive Elliott would have let in.

I don't see Regin being waived either but if he comes into camp like he did last year, there is a real chance he would get beat out for a job, at which point he would probably be waived. I don't see that actually happening but his spot isn't exactly set in stone yet either.

I can't imagine he'd be waived. If nothing else, he'd be traded for a prospect that represents a similar project. There's no reason to waive him at all, unless they're sending him to B-town (as he's no longer waiver exempt.)

You think a player who couldn't be out 4 rookies will be traded to another team for a prospect...? That's exactly what the situation would be.

Regin is way more than likely to come out flying next year and get a legit shot as the 2nd line center, but if he does what he did this year, no team would ever trade anything of any value for any reason for a player on a one way deal who has proved nothing in The NHL and couldnt crack the last place teams lineup?

Regin is on a one-way next year. I don't think they'll want to bury his $1M+ in Bingo when he can be bought out, and since he's young the buyout is less. According to capgeek.com it would cost $125K next season and $175K in 2012-13. I have no idea how those numbers are crunched but that's what the buyout calculator tells me.
