Toronto trades Versteeg to Philly for 1st rounder + 3rd rounder

Just happened.

Diddle now we can't rag on the leafs for not having a first round pick

bah whatever....they gave up viktor stalberg and some others for versteeg and now dump him less than a year

I think it's a 1st and 3rd. Great deal for TO.

First thing that comes to mind is that they got more than we got for Fisher. Dunno why that would be, but...yeah...Holmgren can't keep it in his pants.

in the end it probably works out to the same if you think about it. Look at where Philly is in the standings and then look at nashville. I'm just hoping nashville doesn't go to the conference finals, but if they do, that conditional turns into a 2nd rounder for us. So really....who gets the better deal? I still say Ottawa

Versteeg has similar numbers to Fisher, is 1.2M less of a cap hit and is still only an RFA after next season. Unless the Flyers fall apart and don't advance past the 1st round of the playoffs, I think we got slightly more value.

Philly may very well win the cup. Don't think so.

exactly we did get more value. even if nashville moves further than philly in the playoffs, then we get a 2nd rounder to boot. we can't lose...

another selling point? like you said, versteeg is still young...24 years old. Fisher is 30. Please let's not be fooled by the numbers game in terms of who got more in quantity

True enough, it's a 30th pick vs a 20th pick.

Pitts will get the injured players back (except Malkin). They could really use Ruutu & Kovalev though. We won't ask for much. LOL

I'm surprised at how many 1st rounders are being shipped away so far. IMO Fisher and Versteeg shouldn't carry that kind of value..... The Flyers are STACKED big time up front now, very scary team.

We should do everything possible to get Pitts' 1st rounder before it's too late

I doubt they'll be able to re-sign Leino now. Dominoes!!!
