Not saying he can't but Karlsson was our only offensive option for a while and Rundblad won't be.

He'd have to get some serious PP times to get that. As it stands right now, Karlsson and Gonchar are higher on the depth chart.

I think he might be a guy they put in PP1 from time to time if it's stagnant with Gonchar and Karlsson + he should be a lock on PP2 with Kuba, that alone should net him some points. I could be shooting too high, perhaps mid 20-30.

Perhaps the best PP D man of all time in Gonchar is putting up basically 1/2 of this normal career numbers and Rundblad is going to come in as a rookie playing less mins and the 2nd PP unit and out produce him? Happen not gonna.

Have you been watch The Sens this year? He has to out play Gonchar and Karlsson for top PP mins and he wont be seeing quality mins for a while. He's not going to be put in a position where he can put up those kind of numbers in his rookie season.

People are really setting themselves up for a disappointment.

To be honest no I haven't watched the Sens much, I would try but school, and other things were more important. I guess its a good thing that there are two PP lines then, right?

It would be even better if The Sens as a whole would score goals in general. Short of a total turn around in offence up front, the points from the back end are going to top out at where Karlsson is right now. Unless Regin becomes a legit 2nd line center and puts up 40-50 points, The Sens offense is going to struggle again.

It has less to do with Rundblad then the circumstances he will be put in next year.

I think Rundblad puts up 25-30 points and he will get Top PP time when Gonchar gets injured.

Gonchar's been bleeding awful this year man, just repugnant, call it what you want, I think Rundblad can hit 25-30 next year filling in for Karlsson or Gonchar on PP1 and manning PP 2.

He didn't go from all-star/olympian/Stanley Cup Champ/all time great to Dung in 6 months. It's the team, not him. Rundblad isn't at Gonchar's current level so don't expect as much or more thna Gonchar was able to provide.

We can't say "it's the team" every single player, especially for a guy like Gonchar. He was a very risky signing in the first place and he showed signs of decline many times last season. A lot of his struggles this season are on him. He hasn't been at an all-star/olympian level for a bit now.

Kuba was more awful, Philips had his worst games as a Sen, Carkner looked like an AHL-er again, Karlsson has the worst +/- in the league etc. I think we can write this year off as far as fair evaluation goes.

Gonchar has had problems for sure, but to say he's gone from top pairing D man on a Stanley Cup contender to bottom pairing D man on the worst team in The NHL is laughable.

Gonchar's effort on some nights and his poor decision making is all on him, you are 100% correct, but he didn't decline that much in 6 months even though I agree, he was/is showing signs of slowing down.

I don't even know what the pairings will be like next year, or if there will even be a huge gap between the 1st pairing and the 3rd. Too many options on paper.

It will be interesting in every aspect next year. Who cracks the lineup and who ends up in Bingo is anyones guess.

I don't know how we got sidetracked to Gonchar, but I think if Rundblad gets some PP time - either as a fill in on PP1 when there are injuries, or anchoring PP2, he could put up close to 30 points.

He might knock on the door of 30 but that's probably best case scenario.

Florida got the point, so for those of you worried about Ottawa catching a team 7 points ahead of them, breath easy tonight. Long ways to go before Florida in below The Sens in the standings.
