These suckers are *still* $55 and up, and the only sales I see are $5 off here and there. Another option is to get a game that is bundled with the remote -- for example, Little Big Planet + controller for $55 (Dell.ca) while a controller alone is $50 -- then sell the game. Except that I don't like selling.

Another option I saw is on eBay, someone in Hong Kong is selling them for $30 with free shipping to Canada. I've bought things from Hong Kong before and generally have been satisfied, but it was just a couple of DVDs and a headset for my Avaya phone at work. The Dualshock Sixaxis controller is a bit more complicated (I assume these are not genuine Sony parts).

Any other suggestions? Did you or someone you know get one of the Hong Kong deals?

How about this guy's auction? Selling two of them. Three and ahalf hours left.

Items are used and he's charging $12 for shipping. Compared to $30 each new, no shipping. So I figured I'd be willing to pay $20 each (compared to $30 for the new ones), which works out to $28 without the shipping. I placed a bid for $28 and was immediately outbid.

Winning bid was $56US. Add $12 for shipping and someone just bought two used controllers for $34 each, when they could be had for $30 new.

I thought you said they were $55 new?

Bonus points if you can place that little gem of a quote (as always, in comedy, the timing is everything, though.)

The price I'm comparing to is the one from the guy in Hong-Kong. The buy-now price is $30, but a recent auction went through at something like $24.51.

Well yeah, but who knows what you'll get from Hong Kong. There's probably a reason why they sell them so cheap (i.e. counterfeit perhaps).

Hey, thanks for the links. Looks like I'll have more choices. Shipping from Hong Kong takes 3 weeks or more and I'm still not sure if I would get dinged with additional charges when it goes through customs.

I didn't even know there were different controllers out there until I read your question about 6A6 vs. dual-shock 3. I only bought my PS3 a little over a year ago, so dual-shock is the only thing I've known. The eBay auctions I've been looking at are all for dual-shock 3s. It's good to know, though, because I bet there will be some non-dual-shock ones out there. I don't care much about the vibration, but if it's an older controller you worry about the powerpack in it.

Sixasis blows, don't get those. Even if the vibration isn't a big deal for you, the sixasis are way too light and feel cheap (at least IMO).
