Seems like it's win-win for both teams.

Atlanta seems to have tons of young offensive talent (Burmistrov, Klinberg, Cormier, Esposito, Aliu, etc) but no real defensive threats coming up the system. Seems like adding a vet scorer and a defensive prospect might be worth it to them. I think he'd waive his NMC too. It's like an extended two month holiday to be in sunny Georgia during the Canadian winter months, and he has to do everything in his power to market himself to Montreal next season. Too bad Bergfors is a RW. We really need some help on the left side.

NEVER!!!! Let's not talk about giving up one of our future-4 for Bergfors....yikes.

I still maintain that the sens should instead target Edmonton....with a plethora of forwards, they don't have much on D in prospects (as of now though looks like Larsson is a lock for them). I wouldn't hesitate to do: Rundblad + Kuba for MPS + Souray if it were possible. As much as Rundblad excites me, the thought of MPS sniping on our team is music to my ears.

To be honest, I can see Edmonton being interested in this type of deal if they instead drafted a top forward; chances are they get one of RNH, Landeskog, Couturier, or Larsson.

though since this is a bergfors related thread, my final proposal would be as follows:

Kovalev + Lee for Bergfors (+ conditional pick if possible)

Atlanta needs a somewhat lengthy playoff run and Kovalev probably has most value on our team as a tradeable asset. Lee for Bergfors is a little uneven, even though they're both under achieving, but add Kovalev and this is an interesting deal from the thrashers perspective.

Although, Lee needs to play some more games and Kovalev needs to start showing more offensive prowess. Worst case for Atlanta, they get a rental that didn't pan out but they didn't sell the farm on it (see Tkachuk deal)

That's interesting but I doubt Edmonton would give up MPS. Their core is scary good. If they land one or two defencemen this off-season, and use their top 5 for another forward, they will be a serious threat for years to come: Hall, Eberle, Omark, MPS, Penner, Gagne, Cogliano, Hemsky, Brule, and top 5.

If anything I could see them trading Hemsky for Michalek, maybe Kuba and Lee for Souray, but they won't be trading Omark, MPS, Hall or Eberle any time soon.

Larsson is a lock for the Oilers? They're 11 points up on NYI, 9 points up on NJ and 1 point up on the Leafs. As a matter of fact they're only 3 points behind us with 3 fewer games played.

You honestly believe the oilers at the end of the season are ahead of the senators and flames? Granted the teams suck but Oilers are soo very young...well more power to them if they can improve further, but realistically, I think Oilers end up as 3rd worst (battle with Toronto) when all is said and done, and larsson is a definite possibility.

Edmonton doesn't want anything we have to offer. They're a better team now - and they'll be a better team next year if things continue this way, they're about to get a top 10 pick I assume. Unless we're offering up Rundblad for say....Omark, they're not moving any of their young forwards.

Not too sure about that....hypothetically and not that I would personally do it....but what if this was the trade proposal:

To Edmonton:
Karlsson

To Ottawa:
MPS..or MSP....or whatever

I think without a shadow of a doubt, edmonton does that deal. Of course, we never could do that Smile

Edmonton might consider moving a larger contract for an expiring one though. They aren't oozing with cap space afterall, and they will likely want to save some room for their young guys to be re-signed.

A Kovalev, Ruutu, Phillips or Kuba might be of interest.

I could actually see Phillips being the guy. Phillips for Penner.

Well yeah, throw out the one piece we have that's of value. Laugh1 Karlsson's on pace for...around 50 points in his sophomore year after having a bad start. Imagine when this team is assembled properly and actually scoring!? Ohmy...

I flip flop a lot on Penner. Not sure he's the kind of player we're looking for.

Penner I think would be a guy we go after in the off-season after we strike out with Richards.....did Murray sign Penner in anaheim?

Yeah, he signed Penner out of University.

Edmonton's going with a full youth movement, I can't see them taking on any big veteran contracts. They even managed to make Horcoff useful (but still overpaid).

Hemsky is also injury prone, don't think we want that and Penner's name keeps coming up due to the Murray connection and trying to land him for Heatley, they might try and deal them since they're gonna need a lot of cap to resign their young guys in a few years. I doubt they will resign them.

I don't see the Oilers trading any of their young stars either, at least until they get a feel which ones are going to be NHLers and which ones aren't.

We pretty much need to do what the Oilers, clear out the crap, keep the few good (and untradeable contracts) and fill the roster with some young stars and go from there.

Faster, younger, better, cheaper.

I think Karlsson is a far smarter, better player than Green will ever be. It's up to us to develop that properly though.

I mention Penner because Ottawa doesn't have a guy and hasn't had a guy like that as far as I can remember. I want a power-forward on this team.

Give me a Rick Nash, Dustin Brown, Dustin Penner, Burrows, Ryan Smyth, Cole (in his prime), Morrow, Iginla, etc.

I'm not sure about a Norris, but I think he'll be a 60-70 point guy for the next 15+ years.

Yeah Sens need to sign, trade, draft for a power forward badly.

Another reason why I hope they don't try and land Semin.
