Karlsson is now tied with Spezza in points and only two behind Alfie for the team lead.

But I think that's probably more of a bad thing than a good thing.

Lots of empty seats. Attendance was 16,471. The Euge is bleeding money.

well if it stays that way till the end of the season then melnyk will have the choise. tank and get a great pick, or make the playoffs and get knocked out first?

Brodeur was actually very solid tonight.

From a second year defenceman who's already been benched? Yeah, that's definitely a bad thing.

That's worse than Sophie's Choice.

His left shoulder was a little weak on the winner.

I have a feeling he's not going to be benched too much more. He was playing with Phillips last night -- not sure if that was a demotion for Phillips or a promotion for Karlsson, but he had the second most ice time behind Gonchar (who I thought should have been the scape-Russian; 6-1/2 minutes on the PP is ridiculous and undeserved, based on recent play). I don't know how long Phillsson will last, but they were a combined +6 on the night, playing shifts against both Kovalchuk and Elias' lines. Sure, the Devils aren't exactly good, but those are pretty good offensive players, none-the-less.

He's scored 5 goals so far, and we've won 4 of the games in which he'd scored. That puts him in Phillips and Neil category, doesn't it?

I also think that Karlsson will help fill the seats if he continues to play well -- and by "well" I mean continue scoring. He's on a 45-point pace (if he played a full 82 game schedule) but with the right ice time he could get to 50+. And by right ice time I mean playing more PP (Gonchar had almost 2 minutes more PP time) and being put on with the top line.

For years we had the top line almost always playing in front of Philchenkov. I always thought that probably affected their totals a bit. With Phillips back there they still have that defensively responsible D-man, and Karlsson can make up for some of his mistakes with speed. Spezza has also improved the defensive side of his game (saved a goal last night) which makes for some intriguing possibilities.

I still stand by what I said. Brodeur may not have lost the game for them, but he didn't win it. I knew Sens would win.

"Philchenkov" that's awesome.
