Just doing some random thinking in the GDT. Assuming Butler isn't going back to Bingo just yet, who sits out next game? I don't think Butler is done yet. He had a good first period and lost his legs later on -- not surprising given that it was his third game in three days. I expect he'll play and stay top-six. So, who sits? A defenseman like Kuba? Unlikely, as that probably means Lee/Karlsson. Carkner, perhaps, given that the Habs are a quick team. However it's most likely going to be a forward.

I can add more options to the poll. Mike Fisher, anyone?

By the way, anyone else think that, maybe, Spezza has go to start shooting *less*? He's been missing with so many of his shots lately that it's ridiculous. Maybe with Butler on his wing he can start dispensing again.

I'm guessing someone useful, like Winchester, comes out.

I'll go out on a limb and say Regin, again.

Regin, 100% without question. You don't change a winning line-up. That's like the first thing you learn at (proverbial) coaching school. Regin has to wait his turn now. Who sits next? The next loss will put us in a position to comment on that.

I think one of Butler / Smith is up here for the long haul, honestly. If not them, then someone else. BM and CC clearly want to create competition for forward spots, and you need a 13th body to do that.

"Winning lineup" is the best reason/explanation why Regin sits again. Would you, then, not consider sitting out someone *else* for the same reason?

Against a fast team like the Habs, is Carkner the best option, even on the third pairing? Maybe if the other option is Lee, who's been out of the lineup since probably before Regin's last scored (I don't know that for sure, though).

I'd say Regin as well, if only to not change a winning lineup and give Butler more time to gel.

Probably Regin again because you rarely change things after a win. I'd stick with Butler for a larger sample size - I thought he looked really good personally.

Also, props to Shannon for having a whale of a game last night. Winchester too, can't sit them.

Cuss it, Foligno should come out and Regin should be put back in with Shannon and Winchester.

Regin's too good to sit in the pressbox.

I think Foligno sits next game. If he doesn't, then he should. I like what he's doing, but Regin creates more scoring chances than Foligno. On the other hand, the sens were hitting alot more yesterday and Foligno was a big part of it.

...tough call. My vote would still be for Foligno to sit. But my gut says that the lineup will remain unchanged unless some injury takes place.

Speaking of which, I didn't realize it but Brian Elliott suffered a bit of an injury on Saturday. Not too serious I guess since he was backup yesterday

Also, the sens practice today was optional, yet only 6 skaters decided to skip out (don't know who yet but probably the injured ones). I don't know how to perceive this news, but I think that's a pretty good sign. Everyone wants to be on the same page and realize the importance of righting this ship.

Let's hope it works for tomorrow night

Was it an injury suffered or just something that's been nagging him? I thought it was the latter.

from Don brennan:

Brian Elliott, who has shutouts in two of his last three starts but only one win to show for them, sat on the bench with an “upper-body” injury he suffered late in Saturday’s 1-0 shootout loss to Buffalo. Probably strained something carrying the hopes of a team that had so much trouble getting the job done at the other end of the rink ...

Last part is tongue in cheek obviously, but I don't think the injury part was. I do recall Elliott in some discomfort (had to go to the bench for a second) on saturday night
