There's no absolutely no way to determine, 100% guarantee that any player will turn out as someone "predicts". That is all it is. A prediction. Many players are "predicted" to be like "player X" and they "disappoint". I use that term lightly because to put those expectations on someone else is unfair.

Then there are players taken very late, where you are lucky to make the AHL, let alone the NHL, that go on to become superstars.

I just think Flyers are really going to regret drafting Couturier over Hamilton and Jonas Brodin IMO. That's a case where they didn't actually scout heavily due to their lack of a 1st round pick at the time.

A lot of people can say that about players their team drafted.... in hindsight.

I'm not talking in hindsight. I am talking about at the time of the draft. A defenseman was simply a better option for the Flyers. Their future D is atrocious.

A lot of teams draft the best player available, not just the best player for a position you need improvement in.

And in my opinion Hamilton was the best player available. So two birds with one stone .

Too bad it is just your opinion, and your opinion is meaningless to the teams and people that actually make decisions.

Toronto stuck at "67" points is a bit ironic no? Yes.

Leafs have back to backs coming up... Flyers on Sat and then Caps on Sun. Will two losses in a row mean the death blow? Tank Nation will be in full swing... they could actually be 2nd last in the East by then with wins by Carolina and the Islanders.

Toronto needs 25 points in their remaining 15 games to reach 92 points and, with some help, make the playoffs. Smile

Thing is, Washington has 72 points in 67 games, which extrapolates to 88.1 points. Teams behind them are even worse, so it may very well take just 88-89 points this year. That's 21-22 points in 15 games. If they win 7 and lose 7 in OT/SO that's 21 points. They could lose 8 of their remaining 15 and still squeak in.

And if you think Buffalo's recent hot streak means they'll vault ahead of everyone, do the math. They have 15 points in their last 10, with 14 games remaining. That's 21 points at the same 1.5 ppg pace, which puts them at 89.

I was completely wrong when I said it may take more than 92 points to get in this year. I think it will take 90 or fewer points.

Gustavsson starts for the Leafs tonight. Bryz is expected to go for Philly.

Philly wasn't ready to be picking in the top 10, they got that pick last minute. If they did their homework you can pretty much bet they would have taken Hamilton. I don't know if they will regret it but Couturier isn't going to be much more than a 2nd line center in his prime. Hamilton could turn out to be a top 5 D man in the NHL.

Teams picking in the top 10 that actually did their duediligence avoided Couturier.

What about #3 when Anderson doesn't make it to year 3 of his contract?

Haha you wanna transfer 30 to me and call it even for one of the 24's.
