Just saw this posted on TSN. Looks like we won't have a referee work stoppage after all.

Yeah, except in the last five minutes of the third of a close game, or in OT, unless it's the Leafs. It's a complicated formula.

It could very-well be just circumstantial. If a team is behind by a goal late in the game they drive the net, move their feet, do everything to try to tie it up. Hooking and holding calls get made in those situations.

Now, if they have an unusually high number of calls not related to desperation (too many men, roughing, interference -- especially of the goalie variety) then that would be very interesting.
