WIN for Vancouver IMO. Ryan Parent is a key piece they've added to their future, and quite possibly, now makes them the absolute favorites to win the cup

I believe it was a salary dump. O'Brien was the odd d-man out in Vancouver and was making 1.6. Ryan Parent makes 850,000 this year. Vancouver knew they'd have to pay NHL wages for someone to play in the AHL, and Parent was probably the cheapest return they could find for O'Brien...
