Thrashers' Prospect Pavelec Refuses to Report to AHL

After leading the Chicago Wolves to an AHL championship, Ondrej Pavelec and his agent claim that he was mistreated by the Thrashers and wasn't given a fair shot at making the NHL team.

A 21 year old goalie? We have a good young goaltender already. Our problem is that we have a couple of older goaltenders who are not good enough to be 'tenders on an elite team, and neither Elliot nor Pavelec are ready to be 'tenders on an elite team either.

are we still considered an elite team?

couldn't they "lose" Gerber at the airport and get this kid?

Wait...wait. I step back from this a second and read more about it. Epic fail from this little Donkey. He wreaks of Radulov/Emery to me. Wasn't given a fair shake? Okay...your numbers were good on the Wolves, but definitely not astounding. How can this guy whine and moan if Atlanta wants him to get another year in the minors?

I'll tell you what... we'll take Lehtonen, you take Gerber... and then you can play Pavalec as your #1 (or Gerber, won't matter) and win the #1 overall pick next year.

You should see the trade proposals going back and forth.

Goaltending prospects are not at all highly valued right now. Al Montoya got Freddy freakin' Sjostrom.

The fact that he has asked for a trade diminishes his value even more.

Atlanta is also an organization that lacks depth.

Therefore, I'll give you Nikulin, Schubert and a second or third for him, tops.

The fact that he has asked for a trade diminishes his value even more.

Therefore, I'll give you Nikulin, Schubert and a second or third for him, tops.

You saw that though, right? I was sitting there going, really, you want to give a bonafide top 6 player for this guy? I'll give you a 2nd - or Nikulin and a 3rd.

Nikulin for sure and a third but I am not sure young goalie is a need unless he is Carey Price type prospect which it doesn't seem that he is. Also if he was that good we wouldn't get him for a whiner and a third. IMO.

Not as good as Price or Raask or Schneider, but he's right up there. I personally don't think his numbers translate that in the AHL, but he had an awesome playoffs.

I don't like that he's whining already though to be honest. We just got rid of a couple of babies.

Yeah for that reason alone, I can almost say for sure, Murray won't go near him with a ten foot pole.. He's just got rid of all the troublemakers and whiners on the team, I can't see him going out and getting another... But crazier stuff has happened...
