Hockey Hall of Famer Dale Hawerchuk will be behind the bench when the 2010-11 Ontario Hockey League season starts.
Hawerchuk was announced as the new head coach of the Barrie Colts at a press conference on Friday morning.
Hawerchuk, who was drafted by the Winnipeg Jets in the first round of the 1981 NHL Entry Draft, recorded 1,409 points in his 19 year career that saw him play with the Jets, Buffalo Sabres, St. Louis Blues and Philadelphia Flyers.
Hawerchuk replaces Marty Williamson, who left last month to become the general manager and head coach of the Niagara IceDogs.
