Rinne = 3.4 = Volchenkov
Clearly Volchenkov will sign for 3.4 million, slightly below Phillips, because he's not as good.

OK. Rinne goes from 1.75 a year to 3.4 so Volchenkov goes from 2.5 to... 4.9?
If this actually has anything to do with A-Train, I'd say it's a slam dunk for him to make 4 million, but...I'm not sure the two go hand in hand.
Murray is also the cheapest SOB in the league when he wants to be.
First I'm thinking "Grossman might be in a mood to get things done" so I figured this might be an indication that we'll see Volchenkov signed sooner than later. Then I decided to look at Rinne's raise and jump to conclusions.
That's about all this has to do with A-Train.
So, exactly how it happens in real life you're saying?
No. I'm just saying that these things probably just play out on a case by case basis and I shouldn't be assuming that A-Train will seek double-minus-100k like Rinne got.
He better not because Rinne is a starting goalie that can carry the preds. A-Train, while great in his own way, is not a starting goalie.
