However in polite circles they call it spit-balling or brainstorming.

This demotion would appear to be temporary. Why make him report to Bingo for one game and then let him take the Olympic break off?

Supposedly he already made plans with the family during the Olympic break, a break he'd no longer be entitled to in the AHL.

Unless I'm mistaken (I think RooneyPoo was mentioning that last week actually), I believe that his salary while he's in Bingo doesn't count against the cap.

Precisely. Every day Cheechoo is down in the minors saves the team valuable cap space.

Cheechoo is now going to be stranded in the AHL until the start of the playoffs. I don't think there's any chance we try to pass him through re-entry waivers -- not because he's super-valuable to us or anything, but because we can't risk getting tagged with half his remaining salary -- if, that is, we're going to go get another defenceman, which I assume we will be doing.

Cheechoo now has 10 points (5g 5a) in 15 games. If he keeps this up does he get recalled as an injury replacement and given a 2nd chance

I think, as rooney said, we don't have the cap room to do it right now.

Soon enough, another 14 games and Cheechoo's a Sen again. Like he'll make a big difference anyway, but hey, anything's better than nothing.

Another 11 games isn't it? If the Sens don't start winning some games Cheechoo will have to rest his hopes on Bingo playoffs and not the Sens.

We only have 11 games left? Whatever it is, he can come back here when our reg. season ends and the rosters freeze. No playoffs for Bingo this year.

Cheechoo placed on waivers for purpose of being bought out (if unclaimed)

edit: already mentioned in off-season I see....

Gotta be one of the worst/overpaid players ever on the Sens.

The zamboni moves faster that he does.

I also hoped he'd turn it around here but I guess he just physically cannot do it anymore.

One of the worst, highest paid players I've ever seen here...

Absolutely horrendous player (now).

I feel bad for the guy, his fall from grace has been more like that of a cliff. He's getting a lot of cash for not playing hockey though, so in that respect, lucky guy.

You guys think he's actually finished in the nhl?

The game's just too fast for him now, he was never a fast skater to begin with and injuries have slowed him down even more.

Watching him in (what appears to be) his final appearance with the Sens in the post season was just painful.
