GAME DAY: Washington Capitals @ Ottawa Senators - 7:00PM EST. Thur. Feb 11, 2010

(It's time for some Capitals Punishment...)

Ottawa (34-22-4, 2nd in the Northeast and 5th in the Eastern Conference) hosts Washington (41-12-7, 1st in the Southeast and 1st in the League) Thursday night at SBP.
Despite some sloppy play by both teams and going down 1-0 then 2-1, the Sens managed to grind out a 3-2 win vs. the Flames on Tuesday night, thanks in large part to the line juggling by Clouston and the outstanding play of Cheechoo in his 500th career game. Some honourable mentions go to Kovalev and to Elliott as well for his excellent bounce back performance.

Another great test for the Senators on Thursday night, note the start time of 7:00PM not 7:30PM. The Sens have been here before on their 11 game winning streak defeating the red hot Canucks so this is far from a guaranteed loss. There's also something to be said for playing with the fear of being embarrased. The Senators will likely have to keep the foot down on this Caps team because they've shown they can come back even when down 4-1!

I think because Clouston outcoached Sutter last night in a BIG way by forming the new checking line of Kelly - Fisher - Alfredsson and shutting down that ferocious top line of Calgary's (and basically also rejuvenating Cheechoo and Spezza) all in one shot.

I put it there because I felt without Clouston's coaching we would have lost. I thought it was funny as well but I can change it.
