Even with his recent success in scoring (and, let's face it, he is not a scoring machine even now) he is still closer to replacing Winchester as the 4th line center than Spezza or Fisher on the top line.

Speaking of which, who replaces Fisher when he goes down? The way he is playing he must be injured, a hit in the wrong place and he could be out for a couple of games.

Fisher is playing like Fisher. He's back to being nothing more than a slight upgrade on Shean Donovan.

It's all your Avatar's fault too. Look what you did to poor Winchester as well. Alfie and Spezza injury update - Page 3 555492

I figured I had something to do with that.

Perhaps you should switch your Avatar to Kuba? Sarcasm

Has there still been no timeline set for how long Michalek will be out for???

I don't know, it's a concussion so there usually isn't much of a timeline on those. Hopefully he'll be back soon, and hopefully the concussion knocked his scoring back into him. Sarcasm

How do you know it's a concussion? A concussion means you have to be symptoms-free for a certain number of days before you are even cleared for on-ice training. He would miss more than just the weekend games if he was concussed. Of course they could be misleading us.

I've seen mention of a suspected concussion... but nothing concrete.

They said it the next day. Mind you, they said a "suspected concussion" so who knows. I haven't heard anything since except in the paper before yesterdays game it listed his injury as a head injury.

He's joining them in Montreal but they think that's too early for him to return, and that's in line with what Clouston said the other day, 10 days.

Is this the fathers-sons road trip? Maybe Alfie wants to take his dad down St, Catherine street for some bondage bonding.

I heard rumblings to watch for Saturday night as well, but...we'll have to wait and see.

Saturday would be too sweet for a return date for Alffy, I'm visiting my friend in Montreal and he told me yesterday that he picked up some tickets. Now I'm nervous as hell to be blown out -- I hate Montreal the most.

Garrioch has a story that Alfie may be back next week. *prays*

...
NEW YORK — The captain is inching closer to a return.
Daniel Alfredsson doesn’t want to pinpoint a date for his comeback from the shoulder injury he suffered Dec. 23 against the Pittsburgh Penguins, but he told reporters in Ottawa he’ll join the team tomorrow in Montreal and hopes to return to the lineup next week.
“There’s no goal,” said Alfredsson when asked about a possible date for a comeback. “(I’ll take) the next few days and then practise with the team, hopefully, in Montreal either (tomorrow) or Saturday. Then I’ll know how close I am to returning.”
It should be noted that Alfredsson is just 31 games short of playing 1,000 in his career. If he returns by Jan. 21 against the St. Louis Blues, and doesn't miss another game, he’ll play No. 1,000 this season. He repeated he wouldn’t play for Sweden in next month’s Olympics if he’s not 100%.
‘Fortunate so far’
“I’ve been fortunate so far with this (injury). It’s gone well,” said Alfredsson. “Doing contact (is the next step). I feel pretty good shooting and moving around the ice, but nobody is there to hit me or check me. Once I do that and get some confidence doing that as well and feel like I can go into the corners with confidence, then I’ll know I’m ready.
“I don’t know if you can tell exactly ‘is today the perfect day or not?’ You just have to make sure you feel confident in game situations. Once I feel confident there, that’s when you know you’re ready.”

I'm thinking he'll be ready for St. Louis next Thursday at home. Mon/Tue are back to backs with Boston/Chicago.

I would prefer he wait until then as well. Boston and Chi-town are going to be losses anyway.
