Team Canada roster -- Fisher got jobbed

I thought there was no taxi squad? From what I heard on Sportsnet the other night, teams will carry 13 forwards, 7 D men, and 3 goalies and will be able to play any combination of those to make up their game day roster of 12 Forwards, 6 D-men and 2 Goalies.

Anyone else heard that?

Apparently the Taxi squad thing is old news. June 25th was when it came out it would seem.

what really pissed me off were kovalev's comments when he was left off the olympic roster. He actually didn't seem to care, and wouldn't say he was dissapointed (on second thought I probably shouldn't be surprised at this....but still makes me angry). Enigma or not, at least show a little more emotion when your own country acknowledges that you're not playing to the level that's expected.

You're right cap'n, no taxi squad. Not sure how everyone else feels about it, but I sure hope the nhl allows their players to go back for the olympics

Let's put it this way, if Heatley, say, pulls a groin 4-5 weeks from now and Fisher replaces his spot as a winger, I am not going to be disappointed.

I have heard from a pretty reliable source that Fisher did not make the team. My contact talked to fisher about 10 minutes ago and Mike said he had not received a call yet. All players were to be notified at around 10 am, and the fact that Mike hadn't received a call leads this person to believe he didn't make the team.

His thoughts are that Bergeron has made the team (due to people he talked to). I trust this person very much, and while he was confident in his information he said it is possible Mike is playing this close to his chest to keep the information from leaking out early. He said the word 'yet' was used several times in his conversation with Mike.

They've also said players would be informed up until 11:45am so who knows.

It's still a long shot for him. I think injuries will be what gives him a shot.
