Like what?

Trade kovalev to Toronto for Blake.

Trade Rutuu, and a 2nd to Chicago for Sharp

Alfie Fisher Michalek
Blake Spezza Sharp
Foligno Kelly Shannon
Regin Winchester Cheechoo/Neil

Hahaha ok, buddy. One Chicago would never do that, two, toronto would never do that.

Jason Blake plays for Toronto. What Blake are you thinking of?

He had a career high in points 2 seasons ago (sixth in league scoring), last season was terrible for everyone.

He's sucked since the 12 game mark. But that's not three seasons, no matter how short our memory is.

That hot start had everything to do with Spezza and Heatley's production. After he signed his contract his play went down hill and is snow balling. It might have been his career high but it was his best offensive season. His production took a hit from what was once normal at the time.

This is his 3rd straight year in a drop in production.

They wouldnt deal for Kovalev, nooo shot. They would take the lesser of two evils.

Ah heck send Kovolev back to Montreal so he can retire there. Gotta wonder what Murray is thinking now about Kovalev. He wants to retire there and then he plays soft against his old team.

No it isn't, considering he had a career-high in points in 2007-2008.

I'm sick of this argument. Spezza's play right now is horrible enough to speak for itself, but let's stop extrapolating it over his whole career or something.

Anyway, there were plenty of positives and plenty of other negatives to discuss. Everything about the Spezza situation has been beaten to death.

It was Melnyk, not Murray.

It has been beaten to death and it is absolutely the biggest issue in Ottawa.

hmm they played well....but didn't. What a fudged up game. That kuba giveaway in the end sums it up. Our special teams sucked Donkey tonight. And clouston, for Diddle's sake get this too many men issue sorted out! GAME DAY: Montreal Canadiens @ Ottawa Senators - 7:30pm ET - Tue. Then again, I expected a loss tonight and an absolute stinker, but it wasn't like that. The sens seem to just lose it horribly in the last 3 mins of a game they're closely behind in and make the score flattering and of course remove any chance to tie it up.

yeah Melnyk gave him the go ahead but Murray is the GM...gotta wonder...maybe better yet send him to Edmonton.

Also, whether you want to admit it or not, Spezza's play was in a constant state of decline that season after their hot start concluding with that absolutely disgusting playoff performance.

Signed the deal, packed it in.

On the bright side, is that kid Karlsson good or what eh? I swear there were 3 incidents where he'd give the puck away/lose it and then regain it within 5 secs, he's smart enough to pick up his mistakes now, it's a sight to see

Karlsson was great tonight. Making mistakes but he's never making the same ones. The kid is learning quick.

Michalek and Fisher were solid again.

I know that and had no problems with the signing. I do have concerns with Kovolav now wanting to retire a hab again and played soft tonight.

It is starting to become a major issue and I'm a huge Spezza fan. He needs to get going or this team is going to quickly fall back to the bottom of the league again. His play is becoming inexcusable and especially for the highest paid player on the team. He rountinely mails it in if things aren't going well in a game and lets someone else pick up the slack. More then ever he looks like a quitter and for 7 million a year we can't afford to have a guy that quits and only plays well when he feels like it. He's supposed to the teams best player and I can honestly say he hasn't been the teams best player in well over a month.

And like I said before, he recovers from those small mistakes really quickly and smoothly and he's isn't costing the team.

Let's take a break from Spezza for a sec, I actually have a much bigger issue with Kovalev and it goes beyond his on-ice production. And tonight's game just made my issue a whole lot bigger.

You can only hope MTL takes him back. Maybe if they need some support come playoff time.

Im starting to get sick of all the "I wish I was a Hab" BS. Melnyk looks like an bunghole for forcing Murray to do that and Clouston's hands are totally tied with 2 players who are making a combined 12 mil who are doing nothing at all.

There is no way around that. I just dont get the Shannon thing.
