WTF? 4-2 now!?! Almost another shorty from what I hear... just tuned in from Sens game.

But did anyone else feel that the US outplayed the Canadians for much of the game? My kid kept saying how the American players were much faster. I didn't see Cowen do much -- that give away is the only thing that stood out. Pietrangelo has a wicked shot. Schroeder will be fun to watch in the NHL.

I said it in another thread...the days of the Canadian talent pool being infinitely larger than everyone else's in hockey is coming to an end, if not already over.
The Americans were fast, tenacious and well-organized. The Canadians pulled it out, but they got outplayed for almost the entire contest.
I suspect we are going to see something similar from their older counterparts (the Americans) in about six weeks.

I think the Olympic team's only chance is Miller. Team Russia is stacked. They have a more potent offense than Team Canada, Gonchar/Markov anchoring a pretty good back-end and if one of their goalies gets hot they will be very hard to beat. Team Sweden is pretty solid as well, if not nearly as flashy. King Henrik can steal a medal, for sure.
Petersson has a ton of skill, but he is easily 2 years away from making the Sens. He is extremely one dimensional and will require alot of work to become an NHL player.SpezDispenser wrote:I hear Petersson is playing lights out - one person described his goal last night as an Ovechkin-type snipe, complete with the toe drag and the ridiculous release.
Hard to imagine he won't be seriously vying for a top 6 spot on the Sens next training camp - along with Silfverberg, who I also hear is absolutely ready for the AHL or NHL next year.

I would be surprised if either player made the club in the next 2 years and equally surprised if either player was in the AHL next year as opposed to the SEL.

Some might point to Karlsson, but it's clear Karlsson thinks the game at the NHL level already, it's just a matter of adjusting physically, learning the intricacies of being an NHL defenseman and seasoning. More than anything, he just needed to get his feet wet and go from there.

No rush at all, just people saying that this kid is dynamite. And while most were centering on the Tenenby's of the Swedish team, now they're also looking closely at Petersson and Silfverberg (but especially Petersson).
