Still sucks that Lehner didn't make it, though.

If Wiercioch were to make it for Canada and Karlsson were released, we could have had six prospects in the gold-medal game.

Don`t forget we have one russian elite forward playing for Russia The Official 2010 WJC Thread - Page 2 159628

Diddle it, Lehner wouldn't play in that tourney behind Markstrom. Better he stays behind and plays solid minutes in the OHL.

That rapping goalie got some PT last tournament. He probably wouldn't play when the games were more important, granted. But I doubt he'd play in games less important than an OHL game.

Also, there was always the potential that he'd wrestle the starting job away from Markstrom. Perhaps literally.

I suppose, yeah. I don't think it's likely, nor do I think Nilsson will get much time, yeah, it's better to be there and have the chance than not. Still like him getting more regular playing time in the OHL though.

It's also pretty amazing to think of the goaltending that Sweden is producing. Lundqvist (obviously), Enroth, Markstrom, D. Larsson, Lehner, Gustavsson, etc.

I think Sweden's goaltending development is the best in the world.

They're top-3 for sure. But are they currently better than Sweden, in your estimation?

You have Rask coming in, Backstrom, Kipper, Lehtonen, Nitty, even Tim Thomas really honned his skills over there, he might be American but he defently learned the pro game there. I also like Seterri

Dah, you can make an arguement either way but I'll go with Finald, I think they battle a little harder then the typical Swede goaltender. Lehner isnt that typical goaltender though.

I can honestly see Tuebert, Ellis, Cowen, Wiercioch, De Haan and Pietrangelo making up the 6 D.

No reason Wiercoich shouldnt be on that team unless the CHL bias is front and center as usual.

Cowen, Tuerbert, Ellis, and Pietrangelo are all given I think.

I dunno. He had some injuries at the beginning of the year and came back and wasn't as effective on the 67s (I listen to the games if there's no NHL games on).

Kinda sucks though, but it's good if it gets Wiercioch a place. ThumbsUp

What's bizarre is that Sportsnet isn't (or maye just wasn't) listing Cowen.
