He kept chirping during a scrum and looking to start trouble; after a few warnings, the ref had had enough.

Ugh, really? I thought that was a brutal game for us, our absolute worst effort for us since game 1. Leclaire was the difference, absolutely.

I thought it was a poor effort for the most part as well. But, that said, you have to add Volchenkov, Carkner and Fisher as difference makers. 18 blocked shots between them, if I remember correctly. I believe it was 6 for AV, 8 for MC and 4 for MF. Allow the Habs another 18 shots getting through, the game would have ended differently for sure.

That's hilarious. Check out my last post. We singled out the same three guys, in the same order, for their play last night. I think we're on the same page on this issue. Smile

Ya, for me, it was Fisher that turned this game around.  His hard forecheck and determination (killing a 5 on 3 also helped) swung the momentum our way.  He also dominated in the corners and managed to setup Kovi and Neil.  Fisher is quietly having a great year so far.  I was really surprised the team 1200 didn't give him the nod for hardest working sen.

Who'd 1200 give it to? Leclaire? Carkner? A-Train?

Well, people seemed a little surprised we won a game playing so/so hockey... that's called having a true number 1 goaltender, nice feeling eh. We have a border line number 1 backing him up as well and has the ability to steal games as well.

Everything looks good here for the present and future. Thank you Dany Heatley, you being a douche bag saved The Sens!

It's certainly nice to be outplayed and still come up with the victory, especially after the Penguins game where I felt the Sens looked a lot better than the scoreboard showed.

I wonder how the Sens do after a lengthy rest.

Not 100% sure but I think it was Kelly.  I agree, Kelly had a helluva game...very smart defensively but still, for me, Fisher turned the game around.  By the way, what a nice defensive play by Karlsson to break up the break away (fixing his own mistake).

what about the TV schedule. This should have been the national game. 2 Canadian teams playing with storylines but instead CBC maintains pro-leafs instead of being a diverse canadian broadcaster.

The real stupidity is replaying the Leafs game in the early morning... How could they possibly get more people watching a losing effort than a winning one? Thats just idiotic, unthinking bias.

Those schedules are all determined way ahead of the first NHL puck even being dropped.

really? good to know.. I still think its stupid that they I miss 50 minutes of that game and can't catch a replay on TV.
I did get to see that 3-4 minute period you were talking about where the Sens just dominated the Habs, so that was nice. They were completing plays all over the ice! 3 foot saucers, bank passes off the boards, crossing through seams! It was nuts! Nice to see them start to click.

They may not have what it takes to be a true contender this season, but with some careful tweeking and key re-signings, they might be a team to watch next season.

I wonder what is going to happen to Campoli? There is no shot he can stay in the lineup at this point with Kuba set to come back (I think) this week. That's prob the only trade I think Murray kind of dropped the ball on but I still get why he did it.

Have to agree. I see why he did it - and Campoli still obviously will have chances with injuries, but...yeah...

Oh well, what Murray has done in awful circumstances is nothing short of amazing to me. Consider what he had to work with when Muckler left. Not one guy resembling anything close to a number 1 goaltender, not one stud prospect, no depth in the organization anywhere, and maybe the worst individual attitudes in the league.

Hopefully Murray can turn Campoli into a 2nd rounder to a team struggling to find some offense or needs to shake things up in a hurry. Unless he wants to deal Picard who looks like a top 4 right now and sort things out like that but right now I wouldnt touch that pairing with Carkner.

Shannon is looking like someone who just got a 1 way deal and cant get sent down. Get him out and Regin in and this Sens team will be really tough to stop.

Were we really playing so-so hockey? Consider how much pressure the Habs were under to win at home. plus some questionable refereeing -- that's what led to the bad first period. Price made some really nice saves in the second and third. Although I still think that Kovalev shot should have been stopped, there was nothing he could have done on Neil's or Alfie's goals.

Remember that we are missing Kuba (our best-overall defenseman) and Regin (our 2nd line center). What would happen to the Penguins if Gonchar and Crosby were both out?

We have Karlsson (a raw rookie, never played in North America before this year) playing with Campoli, Carkner (an old rookie) with Picard (pretty much a sophomore), and overall we have more than half the team playing here for less than a full season.

Of course having said all that, I still want to point out that we lost to the Rangers and Penguins -- the only two playoff-bound teams we've faced so far.
