Chelios signs with the Chicago Wolves of the AHL

What the heck? Are you sure it's not a conditioning stint? (I can't be bothered reading it to be deadly honest).

Very very odd. Why bother? Does he really want to play that badly? Are you even allowed to play in the NHL when you're an old man?

He has no NHL contract, not sure if this is conditioning or not... but he's joining the Wolves.

Gordie Howe did it when he was in his 50s I believe. I just don't know why Chelios would sign with an AHL team. The writings on the wall there.

Cheli's doing it because SSF made fun of his nose. From the Chicago Tribune:

Former Blackhawks defenseman Chris Chelios will skate with the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League on Monday and could sign with the team next week when it returns from a Canadian road trip, according to a Wolves spokesman.

Chelios, 47, played with the Detroit Red Wings last season and has expressed a desire to continue playing in the NHL. "Some people say I should hang it up," said Chelios. "But what the f*** do they know? And to that guy Seaway Sens Fan, hey, tough guy, tell me to my face that you don't like my nose."

Chelios needs to tan a bit more. He's looking pretty pale.

It's not so much his nose as his overall unlikeability.

this guy needs to freaking retire and go into Oblivion for awhile, or maybe a coaching/scouting position somewhere.

@SF71>the Oshkosh Oblivion did in fact contact Cheli about a player-coach position, but Chelios signed in Chicago because he wanted to be close to home and family.

And who says 47-year old guys can't play pro hockey? Cheli's probably in better shape than you are.
